Team History

The Aberdeen Arsenal were an Atlantic League team based in Bel Air, Maryland. For the 2000 season, they played in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, which is not affiliated with Major League Baseball. The Arsenal departed from Aberdeen to make room for the Aberdeen IronBirds, the A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, owned by Cal Ripken Jr.

The Arsenal played at Thomas Run Park, on the campus of Harford Community College.

The Arsenal spent one season in the Atlantic League before totally dissolving. Managed by Darrell Evans, the Arsenal played their games on a community college field, something players felt very uncomfortable doing.

The team finished with a 30-40 record during the first half of the 2000 season and a 26-43 record during the second, missing the playoffs. Gil Martinez led the club with a .332 average and Zach Stark picked up seven wins.
