Overall Career
Alfonso Guilleard Soriano was born January 7, 1976 in San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic. His career began with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of the Japanese Central League. In 1997 Soriano got a promotion from the local Carp Academy in the Dominican to the play for the varisty team in Hiroshima. In May of 1998 he obtained a visa, and flew to the United States. Two months later MLB declared Alfonso a Free Agent.
