League Information
Profile
Founded in 2002, the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League is an eight-team Summer Collegiate Baseball league which operates teams located throughout New Jersey.
The ABC is a player development league and seeks to provide a venue for college players who wish to develop their skills to enter the Major League Baseball Amateur Draft to play baseball in an environment of increased competition. All Atlantic Baseball Confederation athletes are unpaid in order to maintain their NCAA eligibility. Each team is operated in a similar manner to a professional minor league team, providing players an opportunity to play under the same conditions using wooden bats, minor league specification baseballs, experiencing overnight road trips and playing nightly before fans in a stadium.
Many players have played in the ABCCL and gone on to sign professional contracts.
The 2007 League Champion was the Jersey Shore Tides. The Tides also beat the Russian Olympic Baseball Team in a post-season exhibition game. The Russian team out hit Team USA when they played, so the Tides beat a very competitive national baseball team and proved they compete on the same level as most of the better summer league programs.
