David Wells is an aged pitcher, and perhaps among the best journeymen pitchers of the 1990s and 2000s. He currently plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers. A redeemed former Yankee, he spent a season and a half with the Red Sox before returning to the San Diego Padres, from whence he came, in 2006.

In spite of a perfect game in 1998, he has a reputation of poor physical fitness, and lacks the raw statistical dominance to become a hall-of-famer. He does, however, sport a very good career K-to-BB ratio of 3.06:1, which is 12th among active pitchers and 29th all-time, over half a strikeout higher than Roger Clemens. In addition, his 236 wins are sixth among active pitchers.
