Felix Doubront (born October 23, 1987 in Carabobo, Venezuela), was signed by the Boston Red Sox as an International Free Agent in July of 2004, out of Venezuela. Doubront received a signing bonus of $150,000.
Scouting Report
- Doubront utilizes a high 80s fastball that tops out at 91 mph with a very good curveball and an improving slider. Flawless and fluid pitching motion with very good control. Deceptive delivery, hitters don't pick up the ball until late, causing his fastball to look a little faster. Struggles against left-handed batters. After dominating the short season levels, Doubront struggled quite a bit in 2007 against hitters at the A-Ball level, but that may be attributable to numerous injury problems that occurred before and during the 2007 season. Doubront returned to form in 2008, looking confident and regularly hitting his spots. He has a reserved and modest demeanor, but is aggressive on the mound. Sometimes has the tendency to leave the ball up in the zone too much, giving up too many home runs. ~ SoxProspects.com
