Overall Career

A speedy outfielder with great promise, Stone never developed as the Phillies hoped. After appearing in 9 games for the Phillies in 1983, Stone was recalled from the minors in 1984, hitting .362 and stealing 27 bases in 51 games, but succeeding seasons featured more strikeouts than stolen bases, and long stints at the Triple-A level. He was traded to the Orioles in 1988, but spent most of the season with the Rochester Red Wings. Following a brief stint with the Texas Rangers, Stone ended his career with two seasons in Boston.

In his 8-year career, Stone finished with a .277 batting average, 11 home runs, 72 RBI and 75 stolen bases in 941 at-bats.
