Filed the original application for ownership of the Red Sox (under the corporation name "Longball LLC"), which was later joined by Tom Werner, John Henry et al. Otten is the Former CEO of American Skiing Company, which was initially a great success but soon grew beyond its means. He believed his greatest angle for owning the Red Sox was the retention of Fenway Park, an idea that Werner, Henry, and Lucchino of course adopted. Because of lesser finances Otten took a back seat to the other owners, but has received financial reimbursement for his ideas on Fenway redesign and originating the bid. If not for him, the Red Sox would almost certainly not be owned by the Henry group, as they would not have had an existing bid to join.
