Luis Antonio Pedraza Rivera was a solid-fielding SS who spent five seasons (1989-1993) with the Red Sox after having been acquired on December 8, 1988, from the Montreal Expos along with P John Dopson in exchange for SS Spike Owen.

In 504 regular season games with Boston, Rivera compiled a .238 average. His best season with the Red Sox came in 1991, when Rivera played in 129 games, hitting .258 with 22 doubles, 8 home runs and 40 RBI.

On July 21, 1992, Rivera broke up Kansas City Royals' rookie P Hipolito Pichardo's bid for a no-hitter with a double in the sixth inning. KC goes on to defeat Boston by a score of 8–0, with Rivera's double as the only hit allowed.
