Armando "Mandy" Romero (born October 29, 1967 in Miami, Florida) appeared in 12 games as a catcher for the 1998 Boston Red Sox.

Overall Career

A 19th round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1988, Romero finally made his major league debut with the San Diego Padres in 1997. He was traded to the Red Sox the following season with Carlos Reyes and Dario Veras, and appeared in 12 games, used mostly a pinch-hitter. In 13 at-bats, Romero finished with 3 hits, 3 walks, 3 strikeouts and 1 RBI.

Romero last saw action in the majors with the Colorado Rockies in 2003.

  • In 1990, Romero led the Carolina League with 90 RBI and finished second to Greg Blosser (18) with 17 home runs while playing for the Salem Buccaneers.
