Overall Career
Originally drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 1998, White was selected by the Red Sox in the 2002 Rule 5 draft. He began the 2003 season on the DL (right oblique strain), and was activated May 26. Matt wore the number 59 and pitched 3 and 2/3 innings for the 2003 Red Sox, recording a 27.00 ERA and one loss (June 1st to the Toronto Blue Jays), before being designated for assignment on June 3rd. He was eventually traded to the Seattle Mariners for non-roster outfielder Shelton Fulse. After pitching 2 innings for the Mariners, Matt was returned to the Indians on June 30.
Matt was also selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 2003 Rule 5 draft, but was returned to the Indians before the season began (March 17 2003). White briefly returned to the majors in 2005 with the Washington Nationals, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits in 4 innings and taking the loss against the St. Louis Cardinals.
On November 28. 2006, White signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Trivia
- Signed by Indians scout Kasey McKeon
- White purchased 50 acres of land in western Massachusetts from an aunt for $50,000 in 2003. He later discovered that the land contains millions of tons of stone ledges. Worth $100 per ton, it's possible that White's property could be worth as much as $2.4 billion. [1]
