Michael Donnell Coleman was born on Saturday, August 16, 1975, in Nashville, TN. Coleman was 22 years old when he broke into the big leagues on September 1, 1997, with the Boston Red Sox. He was drafted by Boston in the 18th round of the 1994 Amateur Draft. He bats and throws right handed.


Overall Career

Michael Coleman had major league experience with the Red Sox in 1997 and 1999. Overall, he was in the Boston organization from 1997-2000, and again in 2002.

On November 16, 2000, the Red Sox traded Coleman and infielder Donnie Sadler to the Reds for infielder Chris Stynes. Prior to the 2001 season, the Reds traded Coleman and 3B prospect Drew Henson to the New York Yankees for prospect OF Wily Mo Pena and cash. Coleman is currently in the Tampa Bay organization.

  • In 1999, became just the 4th player in PawSox history to hit 30 home runs in a season
