Career Overview
Mitch Dening (born August 17, 1988 in Gosford, Austrlia) began his pro career with the Red Sox organization in March 2007, attending minor league spring training in Fort Myers before heading home in April to complete his schooling. He returned stateside in mid-June, hitting .301 with a homer and 18 RBI in 47 games for the Sox' rookie-level Gulf Coast League team. Mitch also drew 19 walks to fashion a .372 OBP, and stole 11 bases in 17 attempts. Dening showed a reverse platoon split, going 22-for-58 vs LHP with 9 walks for a .379 BA and .464 OBP. Defensively, he saw action mainly in right field and at first bass, spending limited time in left and center fields.
