Overall Career
Nicholas Andrew "Nick" Esasky (born February 24, 1960 in Hialeah, FL), was drafted in the fist round of the 1978 amateur draft by the Cincinnati Reds. After 6 mediocre seasons with the Reds, Esasky was traded during the 1988 offseason to the Red Sox, where he replaced Todd Benzinger as the everyday first baseman. 1989 would prove to be the consumate "Career Year" for Esasky, as he belted 30 HRs, had 108 RBI, and posted an OBP of .355, all career bests. Fans took to Esasky, who was only 29 during his year in Boston, but unfortunately his wife did not take to Boston. During the offseason Esasky signed a three year, $7 million deal with his hometown Atlanta Braves. Unfortunately for Esasky and the Braves, soon after the contract was signed he began to have trouble with dizziness and was diagnosed with vertigo. After just a handful of games with his new team, Esasky was forced to retire.
