Overall Career
Henriksen made his major league debut with the Boston Red Sox on August 11, 1911 as an outfielder. He played with the Red Sox for seven seasons, backing up Sox outfield greats Tris Speaker, Harry Hooper, and Duffy Lewis. Henriksen was with the Sox for three of their first five World Series Championships.
Henriksen hit a career .269/.392/.329 for an adjusted OPS+ of 112. He made 6 errors in 128 games in the outfield, with 8 assists and 3 double plays. He played his final game on June 27, 1917.
Moment in the Sun
In Game Eight of the 1912 World Series, manager Jake Stahl pinch-hit Henriksen for starter Hugh Bedient in the seventh inning. With the Sox down by a run and men on first and second with two out, Henriksen hit a Christy Mathewson curveball, which glanced off of third base for a double. The hit drove in Stahl as the tying run. The Sox went on to win the game and the Series.
Trivia
Henriksen is the only major league baseball player who was born in Denmark.
