Franchise History
Founded as the Ottawa Lynx, based in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs are the Triple-A farm team of the Philadelphia Phillies. The team began play in the International League in 1993, winning The Governor's Cup in 1995.
Ottawa was the only Triple-A team based in Canada.
In recent years, attendance has sagged in Canada's capital city. On August 28, 2006, it was announced that Pennsylvania investors purchased the team and following the 2007 season they moved it to Allentown, 60 miles from Philadelphia.
