Peter Ruiz (born August 21, 1987 in Rough and Ready, NV), was drafted by the Red Sox in the 10th Round, 322nd overall of the 2008 Amateur Draft out of Santa Barbara City College. The Red Sox signed Ruiz on June 14, 2008, to a signing bonus of $100,000.

Scouting Report
- Large-framed righty with a smooth delivery. Curveball has plus potential. His fastball doesn't burn (reportedly 88-92 mph), but has some nice late movement to it. Ruiz has been pitching for under two years, as he was primarily a 1B coming out of high school. ~ SoxProspects.com

Amateur Career
- Ruiz went 6-6, 3.97 in 2008 with 59 strikeouts in 66 innings for Santa Barbara City College. He began the year as a starter but had limited success in that role and was moved to the bullpen, where he flourished.
