Overall Career

Clyde Clay "Pork Chop" Pough was a one-time Red Sox prospect. Pough played with Trenton and Pawtucket in 1995. He returned to Pawtucket in 1996 after spending time in the Detroit organization with Jacksonville in the Southern League to start the year.

Pough's best season was in 1995 with Trenton/Pawtucket. That season he compiled a composite .268 BA, .340 OBP, .530 SLG% to go along with 26 HRs, 31 doubles, 6 triples, 57 BB, and 11 SBs.

He never earned a promotion to the majors. He began the 1996 season with Detroit, playing only two games for Jacksonville (AA), before returning to Pawtucket for another 74 games that season with the Red Sox.

Pough's career stats as a Red Sox minor leaguer were: 201 games, 704 ABs, 181 hits, 123 runs, 48 doubles, 8 triples, 38 HRs, 132 RBIs, 123 runs, 89 BB, 13 SBs, with a .257 BA, .340 OBP, and a .510 SLG%.

Pork Chop's last last minor league season was with Omaha (AAA) for the Kansas City Royals in 1997.

Pough resurfaced in organized baseball with the Atlantic City Surf (Atlantic League - Independent) in 1999, following a stint in Japan. He ended his playing career in 2003 after playing for the Nashua Pride (Atlantic League) from 1999-2003. Pough was recently named to the Nashua Pride's 10th Annual All-Pride Team as the 3rd Baseman.
