Amateur Career
Cabreja hit .447, with 8 extra base hits and 9 stolen bases, in 38 AB's in his last season at James Monroe HS. His was academically ineligible for much of the season. As a junior, was named to the 2005 Louisville Slugger High School All-American team.

Scouting Report
Scouts have had a diificult time agreeing on Cabreja, particularly in terms of his speed. Baseball America sees an "average runner and plus thrower", with, "some pop in his lefthanded swing."[1] Red Sox Director of amateur scouting, Jason McLeod, called Cabreja, "...a little unrefined, but one of the better high school bats we saw," and sees him as a corner OF, though a move to catcher is possible as well. [2]
