Red Sox and Raleigh
The Red Sox moved their B Level team from Greensboro, North Carolina to Raleigh in 1958. The Capitals would win the regular season title in 1959, led by an MVP season from Carl Yastrzemski. The Capitals had a 15 game win streak that season, a mark that has yet to be equaled in the Carolina League to date. They, however, would fall in the playoffs, in part due to the fact that Yastrzemski was promoted to the Minneapolis Millers, who he helped to an American Association title.. The Sox would move to Winston-Salem for the 1961 season, beginning a long-term relationship with that city.
