Randall "Randy" Newsom (born May 6, 1982 in Cincinnati, Ohio) is a right-handed relief pitcher in the Cleveland Indians organization. Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Boston Red Sox in 2004, Newsom was sent to the Indians in July 2006 as the "player to be named later" to complete the Coco Crisp trade.

Overall Career
During his Tufts career, Newsom compiled an 18-7 record in 48 games. With 165 strike outs in 209.1 innings pitched, Newsom is in the top five for both categories. His five saves as a junior is tied for second on the team’s all-time single-season list.
Newsom, a side-arm/submarine-style pitcher who utilizes a frisbee-slider, a sinker, and a changeup, made his first professional appearance on June 24, 2004 pitching for the GCL Red Sox. He allowed four hits, one run and struck out two in three innings to pick up the save in a 14-1 Red Sox victory over the Twins. He spent 2005 pitching at Lowell, Greenville and Wilmington compiling a 1-1 record with a 4.65 ERA in 42.2 innings. On July 21, 2006 the Red Sox sent Newsom as the player to be named later from the January trade that sent Coco Crisp to Boston. In 39 total appearances in the minors in 2006 split between Boston and Cleveland, Newsom went 4-3 with two saves and a 3.24 ERA.
