Scouting Report

  • Big righty power arm underwent TJ surgery in 2005 and was converted to the bullpen. Four-seam fastball sits around 91-94 mph and can get up to 96 mph. Lentz also has an average-to-above-average changeup and developing slider, both of which are on the brink of becoming MLB caliber pitches. Delivery a touch lower than 3/4, with somewhat of a slinging type motion. Good intangibles. Pounds the zone aggressively. Very good control, except for the occasional tough inning. Historically fares better against righties. If he continues to improve, particularly with keeping consistent command and improving his secondary pitches a little bit, Lentz has the makings of a very good MLB reliever and perhaps even a closer. ~ Soxprospects.com
