Roberto Antonio Petagine was born on June 7, 1971, in Nueva Esparta. Petagine signed as an undrafted free agent by the Houston Astros in 1990 and made his ML debut on April 4, 1994.

Overall Career

Petagine was originally drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 57th Round (1487th overall) of the 1995 amateur entry draft (June-Reg). Petagine has played for the Houston Astros (1994), San Diego Padres (1995), New York Mets (1996-97), Cincinnati Reds (1999), Boston Red Sox (2005), and Seattle Mariners (2006). He bats and throws left-handed.

Mostly a AAAA player, spending most his time in the minor-leagues. Petagine was a three-time Triple-A All-Star (1996-98), and the 1997 International League MVP. He also spent 1999-2004 playing in the Japanese Central League winning Gold Gloves (3), home run titles (2), and MVP awards (1).

Petagine appeared in 18 games for the 2005 Red Sox, Batting .281 (9 for 32) with 1 HR, and 9 RBI.
