Rupe's Moment In The Sun
Ryan Rupe's moment in the sun with the Red Sox oddly enough did not occur while he was a member of the Red Sox, he was not around long enough for that to happen. Rupe was pitching for Tampa on May 5, 2002 aganist Boston when he hit Nomar Garciaparra with a pitch. Thinking it was intentional, Sox right fielder Trot Nixon threw his bat at Rupe causing a scene and earning Trot some time on the suspended list.
Rupe surrendered the first home run Manny Ramirez hit as a member of the Red Sox.
Trivia
- Rupe is very frightened by Trot Nixon.
