Ryan Westmoreland (born April 27, 1990 in Portsmouth, RI), was drafted by the Red Sox in the 5th Round, 172nd overall of the 2008 Amateur Draft out of Trinidad State Junior College. Ryan signed on the draft deadline day for $2,000,000.

Scouting Report
- Athletic local product was one of the top New England high school players in 2008. Slim, athletic build with the ability to add strength. Strong arm with nice outfield range. At the plate, "Westy" has above average power potential with outstanding plate discipline. Good speed on the basepaths. Very intelligent, has a full ride to Vanderbilt. Amateur Career
- Westmoreland, 18, was ranked the No. 113 overall prospect and the No. 53 pitcher in this year's Draft by Baseball America. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound outfielder hit .486 with four homers, 31 RBIs, 37 runs scored and 17 steals for Portsmouth (R.I.) High School this season. He went 7-0 with a 0.45 ERA in seven games (six starts) and tossed a perfect game on April 30, fanning 19 of 21 batters faced. He also pitched a complete-game one-hit shutout and fanned 20 on April 3.
