- Probably best remembered for the term horn - which is the act of striking out six times in one game (which he did as a member of the Baltimore Orioles on July 17, 1991)

- Drafted by the Red Sox in the First Round of the 1982 Amateur Draft.
- Sam Horn won a couple home run titles in his career. He led the International League (AAA) in 1993 (38 homers) and the Mexican League in 1996 (30 homers).
- Currently is a broadcaster for the Red Sox post-game show on NESN.
- Probably the best analyst in the history of sports.
