Red Sox and the Padres
The Red Sox doubled their minor league affiliates to 8 in 1936, and for the first time moved beyond the Mississippi River, partnering up with the San Diego Padres, who had moved from Los Angeles that year.
The 1936 team would finish second in their inaguaral season, led by Bobby Doerr and Ted Williams. The 1937 team, led by Ted Williams, would win the Pacific Coast League Championship.
