1969
Seattle was awarded a MLB franchise in 1967 (to balance the expansion of the Kansas City Royals), the team played only one season before moving and becoming the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Pilots were made famous by the book Ball Four by Jim Bouton. In the book Bouton described what life was like in the Majors. This book caused many players to become uncomfortable because Bouton told the secrets of the clubhouse to the world.
The Pilots played in Sick's Stadium, an expanded PCL stadium. The Pilots had some attendance problems, but were far from last in the league. They had 677,944 fans pass through the gates, which was in the lower half of the league, but still better than the Chicago White Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Indians and San Diego Padres.
Seattle ended up suing the American League over the loss of the Pilots. They were awarded the Seattle Mariners in exchange for dropping the suit.
