- Website:
- Phone Number: (480) 517-9544
- Comments: Originally opened in 1962 and long-known as Frank's Friendly Tavern, it's been owned since 1996 by Marblehead natives Scott & Kevin Baer. The small bar is at the southeast corner of Arizona State's campus so it draws a youthful crowd. If the game's a blowout, you can amuse yourself with electronic darts or Golden Tee. You can check out the interior here. If you visit, ask Kevin about his customized, tricked-out Mini Cooper.

He and Gary arranged for the WS trophy to visit in November 2004.
Sonny McLean's
- Address: 2615 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica, CA
- Website: http://www.sonnymcleans.com/
- Phone Number: (310) 449-1811
- Comments: Owner Jim Connors is a Foxboro native. Of the 138 seats, about 60 are reserved for regulars. The other 78 are by phone reservation only. This is a must for big games (opening day, playoffs, MFY, etc.) Don't bother trying to show up for the morning game Patriots' Day - it starts at 8 AM and they don't open until lunchtime.

- Website: http://www.bostonbeergardennaples.com/
- Phone Number: (239) 596-BEER
- Comments: A new north Naples bar that is a bit closer to Ft. Myers than Foxboro Tavern. They have dozens of plasma TVs and a 100" projection screen. Great spot to watch the game.
Corks Steak House
- Address: 862 Fifth Avenue South, Naples, FL 34102

- Comments: Upscale steakhouse in Naples. Owners are big Sox fans and always have the game on at the bar.
Foxboro Sports Tavern
- Address: 4420 Thomasson Ln, Naples, FL 34112
- Website: http://www.foxborotavern.com/
- Phone Number: (239) 530-2337
- Comments: A good place to stop if you're visiting Grandma in Florida. Not too far from Fort Myers if you're going to see a Spring Training game either. Lively Boston bar, Boston ownership.
The Lazy Gecko
- Address: 203 Duval St, Key West, FL 33040
- Website: http://www.thelazygecko.com
- Phone Number: (305) 292-1903
- Comments: When the Sox opened 2008 in Tokyo, this place was packed with about 50 Sox fans. El Guapo's Ghost was vacationing in the Keys from Vermont and reported that "The place was rocking. Beers, bloody marys, mimosas and even shots were flowing ... It was like being at a bar back home. Good times. The Lazy Gecko is definitely Southernmost Red Sox Nation!"

Illinois
Chicago
Brendan's Pub
- Address: 3169 N. Broadway, Chicago, IL 60657
- Website:
- Phone Number: (773) 929-2929
- Comments: Drinks only, no food served. They have the MLB package and claim to show Red Sox games at the bar, owner is originally from Boston.
Monsignor Murphy's
- Address: 3019 N. Broadway, Chicago, IL 60657
- Website: http://monsignormurphys.com/
- Phone Number: (773) 348-7285
- Comments: A throwback in the otherwise trendy and often pretentious Lakeview neighborhood, it's a small, laid-back tavern with dart boards. The fenced-in outdoor beer garden out back has a tropical feel. One drawback is that the bar tables are small, so it may not be ideal for large Sox gatherings where you want to keep a group seated together. The food is pretty average (burgers and such), but Miller, Old Style & PBR draft pitchers are cheap.
Nic & Dino's Tripoli Tavern
- Address: 1147 W. Armitage, Chicago, IL 60614
- Website:
- Phone Number: (773) 477-4400
- Comments: From the "Good Timing" department, Framingham natives Steve Nicoli and Dino Zanella opened this place in the summer of 2004. It's in Lincoln Park, and you can't miss the giant Sox flag hanging out front. Decent menu with wings, open-faced sloppy Joes, rib-eye steak sandwiches and burgers. The outdoor beer garden is sweet. There's not much parking in the area so you'll want to cab it or take the L (brown line) to the Armitage stop, which is 3 stops from Merchandise Mart. Another plus is that Nic & Dino's isn't far from the Goose Island Brewery over on North Clybourn.
Louisiana
New Orleans
Cooter Brown's Tavern & Oyster Bar
- Address: 509 S. Carrollton Avenue
- Website: http://www.cooterbrowns.com
- Phone Number: (504) 866-9104
- Comments: Located at the corner of Leake (River Road), this place has 15 flat screens and shows all Sox games -- a surprise considering owner Larry Berestitzky is a Bronx native. You'll usually find at least a few Sox fans here each game, with bigger crowds for marquis matchups. Decent menu of burgers, sandwiches, cheesesteaks, Po' Boys, Chigago-style dogs and fried Louisiana seafood with 45 brews on tap and hundreds more in bottles. There's also video poker and pool tables for rain delays.
The Boot
- Address: 1039 Broadway Street
- Website:
- Phone Number: (504) 866-9008
- Comments: A cheap, no-frills dive bar where students from Tulane, Loyola and Newcomb study for their Drinking 101 final. They'll show important Sox games here, which usually draw a good crowd of college-aged Sox fans.
New Jersey
Game On! Atlantic City
- Address: The Pier at Caesars, Atlantic City, NJ. 08401
- Website: http://gameonac.com
- Phone Number: (609) 345-6800
- Comments: Not a "Red Sox" bar per se, but a very Sox-friendly bar. The ownership comes from Boston and much of management is from the Boston area as well. It's the second Game On! after the one in the footprint of Fenway Park (located at Brookline Ave. and Lansdowne St.), and features 90+ high-definition TVs. Located on the 3rd floor of the Pier at Caesars, there are beautiful 180-degree views of the Atlantic City boardwalk and beach. Sox games are always on except in rare cases. Captain Laddie no longer DJs here, so you'll actually have to pay for your drinks.
New York
Brooklyn
Cody's
- Address: 154 Court St. (at Pacific St.), Cobble Hill, Brooklyn (Take 2,3,4 to Boro Hall; R to Court St., A,C to Jay St., F to Bergen St.)
- Website:
- Phone Number: (718) 852-6115
- Comments: Not a Red Sox bar strictly speaking, but they have NESN and a dozen TV's and the Sox game is usually playing (and they will put it on upon request if it isn't.) Also have MLB and NFL satellite packages. No-frills sports bar, nothing fancy.
Lighthouse Tavern
- Address: 243 5th Ave (between Carroll & Garfield), Brooklyn, NY 11215-1908 (Take any Brooklyn train to Atlantic/Pacific, then R to Union Street. Bar map with subway overlay.
- Website: http://www.lighthousetavern.net
- Phone Number: (718) 788-8070
- Comments: A small, pub-style bar in Park Slope catering to all fan sets, including a regular Sox crowd. Carries MLB, NFL and NBA satellite packages with 4 TVs. Great draught beer menu, with Anchor Steam (CA), Smuttynose (NH), Goose Island (IL), Yuengling (PA), Magic Hat (VT) and Harpoon (MA) to go along with NYC suds (Brooklyn Brewing, Blue Point, Chelsea, Six Point) and imports (Harp, Guinness, Stella, Amstel, Boddington's, Hoegarden). Their list of bottled beers is also extensive. Decent menu with wings, burgers, sandwiches, fish & chips, salads, and even a selection of bocas (Costa Rican appetizers). There are a dozen stools fronting the bar, with around the same number surrounding a few bar tables. A back room has three booths, a pool table, and a dart board. There's also an outdoor beer garden. There's no sign outside, so look for the hunter green store front.
Manhattan
Brady's Bar & Grill
- Address: 1583 2nd Ave (at E. 82nd St.) (Take 4,5,6 to 86th and Lexington)
- Website: http://www.bradysbar.com
- Phone Number: (212) 650-0567
- Comments: Not a Sox bar, but it's a favorite Upper East Side spot for Mets fans (including the owner) and old-school rooters of the Giants & Dodgers. As such, they welcome Yankee haters with open arms. The place dates back to the early 1900's when it was known as McGrath's. It's been in the Brady family since 1961, when Dan Sr. took ownership 5 years after immigrating from Ireland. Dan Brady Jr. has run it since 1991, and he's added six wide-screen TV's, the MLB package, and a jukebox. They're also serious about their dart games here (NYDO tourney play on Mon/Tue nites), and there's a billiard room out back.
The Hairy Monk
- Address: 337 3rd Avenue (at 25th St.) (Take 6,N,R to 23rd St.)
- Website: http://www.thehairymonknyc.com
- Phone Number: (212) 532-2929
- Comments: A Red Sox-Friendly pub in Gramercy. Pros: Red Sox games always on one of the numerous televisions, large contingent of Sox fans (including bartenders), good beer & food selection, Theo Epstein has stopped by for a turn behind the bar. Cons: Jimmy Fallon lives in the neighborhood, and will pop in on occasion.
Pat O'Brien's
- Address: 1701 2nd Avenue (at 88th Street) (Take 4,5,6 to 86th Street)
- Website:
- Phone number: (212) 410-2013
- Comments: They have a rather large sign in the window stating that they show all Red Sox games. The sign was put up during the pre-season DirecTV/MLB vs. Cable and Dish Network controversy and it's still there. They also have a sign announcing that they also show all Patriots' games.
Professor Thom's
- Address: 219 Second Avenue (between 13th and 14th St) (Take 1,9,A,C,E,N,R,4,5,6 to Union Square. L to First Avenue)
- Website: http://www.professorthoms.com/

Riviera
- Address: 225 W 4th St (off Seventh Avenue) (Take 1,9 to Christopher St. or A,C,E,B,D,F,V to W 4th St.)
- Website: http://rivieracafe.citysearch.com/
- Phone Number: (212) 929-3250
- Comments: This is where you may find New York City SoSH members (go downstairs). Great place for Patriot games as well. Fills up early for big games, try Kettle of Fish across the square if you can't get in.
North Carolina
Beantown Tavern
- Address: 130 Matthews Station St, Matthews, NC 28105
- Website: http://www.beantowntavern.com/
- Phone Number: (704) 849-2023
- Comments: This is a great Charlotte area tavern that boasts outstanding food and friendly staff. The Red Sox games are always on. There are large TVs in the dining room and a few small TVs in the bar as well. For vacationers and the unemployed they usually offer freebies during weekday day games.
Sparks American Grill
- Address: 5490 Apex Peakway, Apex, NC 27502
- Phone Number: (919) 303-0074
- Comments: Not the best place to watch a game--the TVs are small and poorly-placed--but the owner is a Red Sox fan and there's usually a hot female bartender. Note the autographed Varitek jersey behind the bar.
Oregon
Cheerful Tortoise
- Address: 1939 SW 6th Avenue, Portland, OR
- Website: http://www.cheerfulgrills.com/venues_tortoise.html
- Phone Number: (503) 224-3377
- Comments: It isn't really Red Sox specific (one of the Bartenders is a Cubs fan), but they have the full MLB package, and have always treated me wonderfully. They have about a dozen HD flat panel TVs. Breakfast served all day (until closing) including the "Best Deal" $1.99 breakfast (2 eggs, hash-browns and toast). Have had as many as about 100 Red Sox fans for playoff games.
New Old Lompoc
- Address: 1616 NW 23rd Avenue, Portland, OR
- Website: http://www.newoldlompoc.com/LPhome.htm
- Phone Number: (503) 225-1855
- Comments: A microbrewery that servers good food and great locally made beer. The web site claims to show "every 2007 Boston Red Sox game on our big screen TV". There is no big screen, but the games are on every day and there are good numbers of Red Sox fans there. They also serve Fenway franks during games, but the price is about what you'd pay AT Fenway. The beer selection is great, and reasonably priced for a micro ($3.50 for a pint). Be warned, the beer is pretty high in alcohol content.
Tennessee
Nashville
Batter'd & Fried Boston Seafood House
- Address: 1008 Woodland St, Nashville, TN 37206
- Website: http://www.batteredandfried.com
- Phone Number: (615) 226-9283
- Comments: Bostonians exiled in the Music City meet up here to catch Sox games, and it's no wonder -- they actually serve fried whole belly clams along with chowder, fried sea scallops, and fried cod & haddock. It ain't cheap, but it's Tennessee.
Texas
Austin
Little Woodrow's
- Address: 520 West 6th Street, Austin, TX

Washington
Everett
Papi's Pizza
- Address: 1816 Hewitt Avenue, Everett, WA 98201
- Website: http://www.papis-pizza.com
- Phone Number: (425) 252-0846
- Comments: How cool is it to find a place 3,000 miles from Boston that's named after the Sox' slugger? Owner Ken Schoener is a Massachusetts native and a 1984 graduate of Dedham (MA) High, so it's only natural that the brick walls inside are festooned with Sox and Patriots decor -- including a giant "Welcome Red Sox Nation" sign over the entrance. He's got the MLB Extra Innings Package, and every game is on the 50-inch flat screen. As Ken tells it, Papi's serves up "real east coast food, not this Papa John's or Subway crap they call food out here. So get off your butts and get up to Everett. Feel free to stop by anytime and introduce yourself and have some east coast style pizza and grinders." Sam Adams and a variety of Pacific NW micros are on tap. Ken also organizes the Seattle Red Sox and Patriots meet-up groups, and hosts many of the gatherings here.
Seattle
Sport Restaurant
- Address: 140 4th Avenue North, Seattle, WA 98109
- Website: http://www.sportrestaurant.com
- Phone Number: (206) 404-7767
- Comments: Not a Sox-centric bar, but the Red Sox Meetup Group has been gathering here since June 2006. There are 44 flat-screen TVs, 30 of which are Hi-Def, including a 17" in each booth that the occupants control. The other 14 are on the outdoor patio. There's also a private lounge with recliners and a 130" plasma screen, which can be had if a large enough group of Sox fans reserves it. John Howie, owner and executive chef, opened the place in January 2005. GM Paul Gould is a baseball nut and they've got his personal collection of signed balls and photos from the top 20 HR hitters of all time on display. Menu includes seafood, Angus beef burgers, thin crust pizzas, wide variety of appetizers & salads, and chicken & deli sandwiches. The place is co-owned by a cavalcade of Seattle sports figures including former Sonics coach Nate McMillan. Additional reviews here, here, here, here and here.

- Phone Number: (202) 333-3150

Pour House
- Address: 319 Pennsylvania Avenue SE Washington DC
- Website: http://www.pourhouse-dc.com
- Phone Number: (202) 546-0779
- Comments: Located on the House side of Capitol Hill, this is primarily a Pittsburgh Steelers bar, but they always have the Sox on the flat screen, they have a large mural of the Green Monster on the wall, and there is usually a strong contingent of Sox fans in attendance. Menu is standard bar fare with some Pittsburgh favorites, like pierogies.
Kelly's Irish Times
- Address: 14 F St. NW, Washington, DC 20001
- Website: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=135265439
- Phone Number: (202) 543-5433
- Comments: Located near Union Station on the North side of Capitol Hill, this is a great place for Sox fans to catch a game in our nation's capital. Relatively cheap beers, decent food, and plenty of TVs and they feature the Olde Towne Team. And it's an Irish Bar, what better place to watch the Sox!
The Union Pub

Japan
Kyoto
Fenway Park
- Address: 408 Kawaramachi-dori, KUS Bldg, 3F Kyoto, Japan
- Website: http://fenway-park.net/
- Phone Number: (011) (817) 6255-4633
- Comments: Red Sox Nation spans the globe. This is a nice little bar owned by the Ohta brothers in Kyoto that's open from 6 PM to 5 AM. It's not far from most of the major sites either. Draft beers (nama biiru in Japanese) are 500 yen. Most of the website is in Japanese but the map isn't, so if you are in Kyoto, drop by. In October 2006, the Globe and ESPN.com had articles on this bar (though the latter just couldn't resist revisiting "The Curse"...), and a photo of the interior is here.
Tokyo
English Pub Hub at Tokyo Dome
- Address: LaQua 1F (Hakusan Street), 1-1-1, Kasuga-cho, Bunkyo-ku, Japan
- Website: http://www.pub-hub.com
- Phone Number: (011) (813) 3814-4482
- Comments: As reported in the Herald, Globe and USA Today, this is where dozens of Sox fans, including many SoSHers, met up during the team's trip to Tokyo in March 2008. The main gathering, attended by beat writers Rob Bradford and Ian Browne, was arranged by blogger and Japanese Ballplayers guru Daigo Fujiwara, who has a series of photos from the bash here. The bar is just outside Tokyo Dome on the east side, and is one of 26 Tokyo locations. Predictably, it's styling is that of a classic British pub, with Guinness, Bass and Kirin on tap and a menu that includes fish & chips, lamb kebobs, and buffalo wings. Info in English is available here, including a map and printable coupon good for 10% off your bill.
