Overall Career
Steve Woodard came up through the Brewers' system as a starter, making his major league debut on July 28, 1997. He signed as a free agent with the Red Sox prior to the 2003 season, eventually making seven relief appearances that season. He was granted free agency following the 2003 season and has not returned to the major league level.
Steroids
Woodard was named in the December 13, 2007 Mitchell Report on performance enhancing drugs in baseball. In a September 7, 2007 article, the New York Daily News reported that Woodard received a shipment of steroids and human growth hormone from The Health and Rejuvenation Center, the same Palm Beach Gardens anti-aging center that reportedly supplied St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Rick Ankiel.507 The article did not state when the shipment to Woodard allegedly occurred.

- April 23, 1999: Woodard, pitching for the Milwaukee Brewers, tosses a complete game, one-run, eight hitter against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The win ends Milwaukee's National League record streak of 113 games without a complete game. [1]

- On April 9, 2001, Woodard is stretchered off the field after stopping a Frank Thomas line-drive with his pitching elbow. The injury sidelines him for a month.
