Overall Career

The Chicago Cubs drafted Terry Adams in the fourth round of the 1991 amateur draft. After pitching at every minor league level, Adams was called up to the big leagues in 1995, appearing in 18 games. He spent three seasons in the Cubs' bullpen before being sidelined by elbow problems at the start of the 1999 season. Adams saved 13 games for Chicago after his return, but was sent to Los Angeles after the season as part of a deal for Ismael Valdes and Eric Young.

Used as both a starter and reliever, Adams spent two seasons with the Dodgers, before signing as a free agent with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2002, and later with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2004. The Red Sox acquired Adams on July 24 in exchange for minor league third baseman John Hattig.

After winning a world series ring with Boston, Adams returned to Philadelphia for half a season, before being released and signing a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

In an 11-year career, Adams has compiled a 51-62 record with 4.17 ERA, and 42 saves in 869.1 innings pitched.
