Overall Career
Perez established himself as one of the RBI men in the history of baseball, finishing 14th all-time. Perez's best season came in 1970 when he batted .317 with 40 homeruns and 134 RBI. He was voted to the All-Star team seven times, and was named MVP of the epic 1967 contest. Perez's stint in Boston was largely forgettable, with 1980 being his best season batting .275 with 25 homeruns and 105 RBI. He spent the remainder of his career in part-time duty.
Moment in the Sun
Perez was voted into the Hall of Fame in 2000 by a slim margin of 77.15% (75% required). His election was somewhat controversial, as many claimed his numbers were largely a byproduct of being on a dominant team and accumulated stats due to longevity. Perez was voted into the SoSH Hall of Fame in the 2001 ballot.
