Overall Career
William Charles (Willie) Harris is a former Chicago White Sox second baseman whose only offensive contribution to the 2006 Boston Red Sox was being the first batter to get a hit off of Mariano Rivera. Harris was DFA'd by the Red Sox on July 18th and accepted an assignment to Pawtucket on July 21st.
Also had a gamesaving assist at the end of a game against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays which saved Rudy Seanez and Julian Tavarez from further humiliation.

Moment in the Sun
- Willie Harris's only real positive moment was on May 28 at Fenway against the Tampa Bay Devil Rays; the game which can only be called "the ugliest save in the history of baseball." After 8 scoreless innings from Tim Wakefield, with Jonathan Papelbon unavailable, and the score 5-0, the game was turned over to the Gruesome Twosome of Rudy Seanez and Julian Tavarez, who promptly refused to throw strikes and looked to give the game away. Willie, having replaced Manny Ramirez in left, picked up a Carl Crawford two-out hit, the first of the inning, and fired a strong, accurate throw to Doug Mirabelli who tagged Joey Gathright out by a mile at home to mercifully end the game.
