It makes sense that Coleman is sidelined. I didn't understand the people saying Coleman was benched...he wasn't playing poorly...and nobody could think that Melvin is better than Coleman.

Speedy recovery, Justin.

I agree with this. I re-watched the game and while Coleman didn't play particularly well, he wasn't bench-worthy either - we're not talking Arrington in the Super Bowl level of performance here. But Melvin was a disaster out there. Gives me hope they can survive with the talent they have at CB, but clearly they will need Coleman healthy for January, because Melvin will get exposed more. And I think even when they face 4 WR sets, they will likely still only play 3 CBs and just have 3 safeties on the field as well.

Rex has always - always - said that BB is the best coach on the planet and that TB is the best QB. This isn't new or different for him.

Collins is obviously genetically predisposed to be a large, muscular person. But even with that built in advantage I bet his daily calorie intake is somewhere in the neighborhood of what? 5,000 calories? 6000?

A week of a diet consisting of ginger ale, water and saltine crackers could lead a person like that to losing what 10? 15? pounds.

At first it seems extreme, but thinking it through the Flu could very easily have an extreme impact on a person like Collins.

Not extreme at all. The flu kills people. Not likely to kill a healthy person in his 20s, but to knock him back for 2+ weeks? Easy.

I'd say 6,000 easy. As for weight swings; you're probably right. I've fluctuated as much as 15 pounds within a single day even when not cutting. It's pretty easy to put back the weight, though. I'd be more concerned about his cardio.

I last really had the flu about 10 years ago, and I was virtually bed-ridden for 4 days, and not normal for another 4 or 5.
Perhaps if Collins was someone who sat at a desk and typed he might have been able to return to work sooner.
Actually it sounds like a rotavirus, not influenza. The flu generally doesn't limit intake of food (though it can with high fever). It's odd to see it in an adult, but not impossible. Similar to a norovirus, a rotavirus is a stomach bug that can last over a week. Generally, its milder in severity than a norovirus.

I had one from a bad veggie crepe a few years ago. I lost about 10-15 pounds and gained it back over a couple of weeks.

Don't worry guys.

The Bills really truly definitely have a plan to stop Gronk this time.

Link

We got a game plan to take him out of the game,” Gilmore said, via ESPN.com. “We’re gonna be ready for him.”

Gilmore didn’t outline that plan, but did reference the work that the Giants did against Brady in the pocket in last week’s narrow loss to the Patriots.

“They [were] getting to Tom Brady, getting him off his spot,” Gilmore said. “They [were] sacking him and they are playing tight coverage on the back end. So first all of you have to get to him to make him mess up.”
I just hope it isn't to dive at his knees on every play.

Heard Rex today with a couple of awesome Patriot under Brady home game stats...

When you add up total Rushes and Pass Completions and the Patriots have more than you, the Pats are 65-5
When winning the Turnover battle, they are 61-2
When winning the QB Rating, they are 62-1

I could be off here in the number of wins (I think it was 65, 61, 62) but am sure the losses are correct.

I wonder what the stats are leage average, or for other qb's.

edit: IRT DrunkanFriar's post above

Yeah, that reminds me a bit of the Rangers (?) PR staff crowing about how Nolan Ryan with a late-inning lead almost never lost, while leaving out the league average comparison.

The BOS media just had some fun with Rex, if the quotes are to be believed

Even with all of the Pats' success since the SB 36 season, part of me still views them through the lens of a fan of the bumblers and near miss kings they were for so many years. Not that I haven't internalized that they are 4-time champs, etc. But it's impossible to completely forget what they were before 1994 and then 2001. They were the classic Charlie Brown team of the NFL...or at least one of them.

So when I read comments from the head coach of a division rival who has the Pats so thoroughly up his ass, and which drive home to the extent to which the Pats are THE team of this era, I still have to pinch myself sometimes. "He's talking about the Patriots. The freaking PATRIOTS!"

Reading Ryan try to disclaim his Patriots obsession is gold.

That was obvious when he was talking about NE last week despite playing his old team.

Does this game concern anyone? If NE can't set the edge I can see McCoy giving us fits and I'm a bit concerned Brady will struggle against an NFL caliber defense this week sans Jules and Lewis. Let's not forget he made a terrible defense look pretty good last week.

I'm somewhat concerned, but no more so than usual. I think with the time to plan for an offense without Edelman (as opposed to improvising it partway through the game) and the return of some O line pieces we should be ok.

There is always the any given Sunday thing, and the fact that divisional games are tough. I don't expect a blow out, but I think a win is still more likely than not.

I've been insanely confident for most of the year but that's no longer the case. Pats are the better team and they're at home so I expect a win...but we're officially back in any given Sunday territory. We'll see who suits up this week but they're missing some really key players on both sides of the ball. I'm glad this coaching staff has had some good time to prepare but I think it could be close. I will not be surprised if the offense struggles for the next few games until they start to find comfort and rhythm in their new(ish) approach and guys adjust to roles (Martin, White).

Bills are pre-setting up the moral victory....

Yea we lost by two touchdowns BUT Gronk was held to two catches for 15 yards. We physical! They finesse!
I'm convinced that what teams like the Ravens, Jets, Steelers, Bills, etc. mean by "physical" is running for 2 yards up the middle against a stacked box. Or getting clobbered while running crossing routes. Or a QB holding the ball forever and getting whacked while making a throw. 'Cause subjecting oneself to that sort of unnecessary violence is the sign of being a real man, or something like that.

For some reason, it never means receivers blocking downfield. Or wiping guys out on a screen pass. Or a perfectly executed trap block, etc.
