I've been flipping back and forth between MIN-SEA and NYJ-NYG, and only loosely paying attention. I've seen THREE mind-numbingly, no way you can defend it, WTF awful calls. Are they just trying to make so many bad calls that nobody can focus on just one?

Are the Browns running a boy scout troop or a football team? How about trying to win a few games a season first and then worry about gathering a team full of alter boys after that.
If he was good maybe. But think about this: would BB put up with shit like that? Part of being a good franchise is having and enforcing discipline. It's one reason BB teams are good even when they lose good players, and Rex Ryan teams always implode.

After going to rehab for substance abuse and telling the team he was a changed man, he got in a drunken fight with his girlfriend and was then filmed partying in a club and lied to the team by telling them it was an old video.

This isn't the random shit I'm sure 99% of nfl players do. This is publicly making a fool of yourself.

Head of NFL officiating says NFL officials are doing an amazing job. Why should I doubt them?

Catching up to the thread....if NFL MVP voting worked more like MLB voting I would absolutely have OBJ on my ballot. Really think he's a top ten guy at any position this year.

Ref in the giants Jets game slides his hand down his pants 3 or 4 times and announcer says it looked like the discount double check commercial. No idea what the ref was doing.

I think his flag came out when his shirt came untucked or something?

How do you know he is any good? They have not given him a shot. You really think fans that pay for season tickets care that the team is showing integrity by benching him?

They want an entertaining product on the field. They are not looking for the Browns to run boys town while getting stomped each week.

They see him in practice and in the film room every day. If he's lighting things up there and they're not playing him, that's dumb - but I seriously doubt that's what is going on.

Such a weird time for the Bucs to go for 2, down 1 with 3:00 left in the 3rd.

edit: nevermind, I'm an idiot who can't read a scoreboard, or can't tell mediocre NFC South teams apart.

He's played 12 games and lost position battles to Brian Hoyer and Josh McCown. Nothing indicates he's good. This is also a team that made the mistake of just overlooking Josh Gordon's problems who was actually good. It has nothing to do with running boy's town, it has to do with building a foundation for a winning team, part of that is in the lockerroom. The fans aren't exactly calling for him anymore, if the coaches think Austin Davis gives them a better shot at developing the other players who are likely to play roles next year he should start.
Manziel isn't going to be the starter on that team next year, it will either be someone new or McCown. Manziel hasn't shown anything to indicate he'd increase his trade value with more playing time, undersized QBs who don't play well and have substance abuse problems don't have a real high trade value.

After the dust-up over the Gronk call, I'd be curious to see whether there will be a "coincidental" spike in OPI calls this weekend
Well, there's another dubious one on Minnesota.

Edit: And now another wacky call (block in the back) on Minnesota.

Cincy/Cleveland game: Green catches a nice pass and gets both feet in bounds at the 1.5 yard line. First the official calls him out of bounds and no catch. Then, after a conference, 2 officials signal catch, which is was. Then, after another conference, they signal TD which it clearly wasn't because Green wasn't that close to the pylon which was knocked over by the DB.

Wow.

I agree. We all know where this is going. Dallas, as Romo's backup.

Here
If Atlanta loses today, it seems likely that Carolina will end the season having played ONE team above .500 in its last 22 regular season games. That is incredible.

Tremendous call in the Bengals game. Green catches the ball and goes out of bounds at the 3. One official says no catch. One says catch. They talk. And then announce, "Touchdown!" Unbelievable.

To be clear, neither called TD on the field. Only after they talked did they decide it was a TD.

Wilson gets a 40+ yard scramble for TD called back on a holding penalty on Willson. Next play he says fuck it and lays a beautiful pass in to Baldwin for a 53 yard TD

Fuck, got switched to fucking SF-CHI. Screw you Fox. Moving to Red Zone

Wibi, keep me updated on the game.
The perils of the out of town fan whose team is winning big. Risk getting yanked at any moment.

Wilson scored on a long TD run, negated by penalty, SEA immediately scores again on a long pass. Now 35-0.

Possibly the biggest bed-shitting of the year by a playoff-caliber team.

MIN special teams finally did something right. 101 yard kick off return for a TD

Woah that return guy for the Vikings is fast.

Edit: Patterson. I didn't catch the number.

I am not sure as a Pats fan that I am all that happy that Wilson and Seattle is starting to figure it out. Just crushing what was thought to be a decent Vikings team.

It is kind of cool seeing Jim right next to his brother John on the sideline. The brothers lunatic.

I'd be more worried were I a Panthers fan.

Vikes have seemed like a fraud for a few weeks now – unable to pull away from a vulnerable Packers team. This pounding seems consistent with that.
