12 of PC's first 18 shots are from three. is this how they always play? no interior defense and chuck threes all game?

Villanova can get to the rim any time they want. PC is a fraud

If Connecticut had a time out left at the end of the third overtime, they probably lose. They did a good job to get an uncontested shot, even if it was virtually (but not quite completely) hopeless. I think Cincinnati had a time out. Is the proper play there to call it? It seems to me that the defense has so much more to gain by being organized for an inbounds play than the benefit to the offense of being able to set up a play. Contest the inbounds and make sure that anyone who catches it has his back to the basket and it's very hard to imagine losing the game -- plus with .8 fouling is not a terrible option either. I've had 3 hours to think about it, and Cronin had 3 seconds, but still I wonder if calling a time out in that situation is the right play if you notice your defense is way out of position like they were. (If they stay down at that end of the court and are set up to play the inbounds properly then I don't think you call the time out.)

No, not at all. Villanova is one of the most well prepared, best coached defensive teams in the country. They are doing a great job of preventing Bentil to get the ball in his spot and keeping Dunn from getting all the way to the rim.

Still hanging around despite the both of them combining for 1-8 shooting.

Dunn sucks. Again I say it. He cannot get his own shot and he cannot shoot when he's open. all he does is look for three point shooters. What is the appeal here? NBA size? Bentl has four fouls. Who else on PC is any good? they have zero presence in the paint on either end. I read that teams are shooting 50% against them this year? I'm not surprised but that is a crazy number...

I like Villanova this year. They usually lose when they go up against a team with a legit big guy or a NBA guard or wing who they cannot match up with and fall apart at the PG spot. Guess what? they likely won't get that unless they have to play Mich state in the elite eight. veteran team, smart team, good team defense and not as reliant on the three as in past years

Ok, I have been as hard on Dunn as anyone this year. But you have no clue what the fuck you are talking about. You know how I know? Two posts up-thread you asked how PC plays, so you haven't watched them at all this year. This board deserves better posts than that.

They usually lose? They have four losses total this year and one was to PC. As a Friars fan, Dunn can be frustrating but his defense, passing, speed and length make him NBA ready. PC has had a hard time finding that third guy to step up. It was supposed to be Bullock or Lindsey but they're hit or miss.

No one here cares but SFA won its semifinal Southland game 104-68. They were 18-0 in the Southland. Started the season rough with defensive issues but are on a serious roll now.

not this year, historically in the NCAAs. Villanova has underperformed in the NCAAs and its usually because they are reliant on the three and don't typically have the talent to match their seed (because Wright is a great coach). As I said, this year sets up well for them. MSU is the only two seed that is a bad matchup for them, and they are not reliant on the three like before. in fact, they re a great two point shooting team and just a marginal three point shooting team. and their D and defensive rebounding is better than in past

Trolling who? Kris Dunn? He might troll the c's if they take him with the Brooklyn pick. His defense seems good enough but this kid is supposed to be a top-5 pick? C'mon. End of game down six and they run a play for him and he has a wide open three from the top of the key and airballs it wide right. its not like he's a freshman, he's a 22-year old junior.

I have no skin in the game, I'm a Uconn fan and I know they are crap. I would like to see Nova make it and play Kansas. I think UNC will lose before the FF and MSU can make it. I am not big on Xavier.

It's reported that tulane is firing its coach t the end of the year at halftime of their game with Houston. Houston leads by 1 with 40 seconds left

Moving over to the mid-majors for a second, ODU, behind Trey Freeman's 34 SECOND HALF POINTS defeats WKU and moves into the CUSA finals against MTSU. He was robbed of the conference POY a few days ago and has gone:

Game 1: 25 points
Game 2: 25 points (while the guy that won POY shot 4-13 and finished with 12)
Today: 42 points, which is CUSA tourney record, on only 25 shots

Is West Virginia a contender? I haven't seen too much of them, but what I have seen has been impressive
I hope so, but I'm skeptical. When they get full on havoc going, they can run teams off the court. But if they go up against teams with competent backcourt that won't make a ton of semi-unforced errors they might not have enough on defense to win 4 straight against good to great teams. On the offensive side, their offense goes through frustrating stretches where they look pretty incompetent in the half court. They're not a great shooting team, they don't have a real 1-on-1 type playmaker, and they rely excessively on offensive rebounds to put up points. I'm rooting for them though.

Simmons and the Simmonsettes are getting absolutely trucked by A&M. This should knock them into the NIT but the NCAA and CBS do love them some big name star power.

This Seton Hall team is remarkable. Feel good story for fans of the program that suffered through a lot of lean years over the last twenty years.

seton Hall is very athletic and tough. I think if Nova can get them into the half court they can come back and win this, but Seton Hall is impressive. I think they re a better team than Xavier

For the life of me, I'll never understand how Isaiah Whitehead didn't win BE POY. What he's done putting this program on his back has been unmatched in conference play.

Your analysis of Villanova is awful. I mean, so is the continued Kris Dunn trolling, but the Villanova thing is hilarious. You are talking about MSU as the only two seed that is a bad matchup for them? Villanova doesn't make it out of the round of 32. You need to be scouting 9 seeds.

That five second call on Josh Hart was atrocious. I watched it twice and timed it, never got over 4 seconds. Awful call by the ref who panicked.

Wow! great win for the Hall. They are a fun team. So many NYC kids.

Last CBB game of the year for Gus Johnson....boooo

That the non-call on the Hart put back were brutal. Will cost Nova a 1 seed. /bitter alum

That said...what a great game. Seton Hall is terrifying. When Whitehead is on they can play with just about anybody.

Hart got fouled on the put back, there's no doubt. That said, the non-call on the push-off on Carrington before Nova hit the go ahead 3 was equally questionable.

Does Calipari ever put his players in the best position to win games? I really think he sucks as an in-game coach.

Murray is a great player. And will be a great pro. Ulis is a great....college player. He is nothing but a backup at best in the pros. Who is Danuel House? wow. is he related to Eddie?

My fiance teaches Isaiah Whitehead's brother in 8th grade. Word is he's projected to be a better prospect than Whitehead.

Yeah, I guess the miracle shot Friday gave UConn a bit of a boost. :)

I'm so happy for Omar Calhoun, a great kid who hung around through adversity and came up big today.
