For years now I've gotten eye strain and its definitely getting worse. I picked up a cheap pair of computer glasses from amazon and they make a difference. If you've never heard of them they dont magnify at all just block blue light and are anti-glare. My only problem is that in the very periphery of my vision I can just barely see the lens frames. I've always had this issue with sunglasses too and can only get pairs that contour to your head so the lenses are so close to my eyes that I cant see the frames.

Does anyone have a pair that work, wraps around like this and arent crazy expensive? Oh and also arent the yellow tint?? The pair I got has more of a clearish tint. There are a bunch of models online but its really tough to tell if they wrap around enough. And I know I could go to a local eye glass retailer but it seems like those would easily run me $100 plus.

Do you have a Mac? I don't know about Windows, even though I'm sure something similar exists, but flu.x (yes with the period) for Mac solved this problem for me. No need to look like Joe Kelly when you're on your computer.

Edit: available for everything -- https://justgetflux.com

It's f.lux, not flu.x, but yes, it's worth using (and it works on Windows). The glasses are super dumb compared to just shifting the color temp.

I've started using that on my laptop and phone and it's been immensely helpful with not disrupting my sleep cycle. I used need a good amount of time after unwinding online or on my phone after work before I could be ready to go to sleep, but f.lux on the laptop and night shift on my phone has been amazing.

Man, I couldn't even sneak that one by you.

Same here. I do a lot of work late after the gf goes to bed and I hadn't realized how much effect it was having on me (I have terrible sleep issues to begin with). Migraines and trouble sleeping have dramatically decreased since using it. It looks a little odd if you turn on your computer at night but you adjust really quickly.

The guy who wrote it is a college friend of mine and a good guy. He originally wrote it for the sleep effects people mentioned, but it seems like a good alternative to the colored glasses, too.

Apple came out with their own in one of the updates in the last six months or so. It's called Night Shift and you can access it in the control panel. Should be a button that looks like a sun ring between the calculator and the alarm buttons.

My wife was getting awful headaches and she got one of these:

It worked great for her. The yellow tint becomes less and less noticeable once you used them. There are newer blue-light blocking coating that your better eyeglasses shop can recommend for you as well (I have a pair).

Both mine and my wife's were absolutely worth the money.

You can set it either to an automatic schedule in settings or you can manually activate it until sunrise via the control center. I think f.lux had some more features than the built-in Night Shift feature has, but the latter should suffice for 99% of people.

I was quite disappointed to see Apple haven't added Nightshift to this year's update of macOS (née OS X).
