http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=bos#y=2017&calendar=DEFAULT&m=4 (May is messed up right now, but I have it corrected below)

-Starts April 3 at home against Pirates, then an odd 4 gamer at Detroit
-Patriots Day will be Rays
-Cubs come last weekend of April
-Funky May, 5 @NL games: BAL, @MIN, @MIL, TB, @STL, @OAK, TEX, SEA, @CWS
-Phillies the "natural" rival again, in mid-June
-TOR, TEX, TB road trip before ASB
-small one-week west coast in late July, then done with west coast for the season
-4 days off "in a row" on August 7, 10, 14, 17 (as in both Monday & Thursdays of two weeks in a row) to acommodate short @TB, STL series
-Season won't end in a splurge of division games like this year: OAK in mid-September, @CIN the last road games, then TOR and HOU finish the season at home

Six home games vs Toronto in September? That could be a major advantage

Holy favorable schedule Batman. Only 2 west coast trips, one of which only includes 3 games, and both trips are only 6 games long. They have an 8 (Phi-Hou-KC), 2 9s (CWS-Bal-NYY and TB-Bal-Cin), and a 10 game trip (Tor-Tex-TB), but none of them are particularly grueling. Sharp contrast to the 2nd half of this year with those 4 trips of 9+ games include two west coast trips.

They open v. the Pirates. They play at Fenway on Thursday, April 6 and then go to Detroit for their Opening Day on that Friday. I'll bet the Tigers want to start at 1:00ish PM. I don't even have an issue with that. That game on April 6 should be an afternoon start.

I think they usually start a little early when the play at home in early April anyway?

Also, my first reaction to seeing HOU is "Interleague play to end the year? That stinks." Of course my initial reaction to MIL is still an AL club. So I guess I have to work on that.

Every Detroit game in that series is set for 1:10.

They had them last year. It rotates by division. You will get them again in 2018 and it should be in Miami (since the last one was in Boston).
They played a home and home with Miami last year, so 2018 could be in Miami but it could also be in Boston. Also, the Red Sox were in LA and hosted Arizona the last two times they played the NL West in the current interleague format and host the Cubs for the second straight time next year, so these things aren't completely set in stone. The only thing known about playing the Marlins in 2018 is that it won't be a home and home.

Edit: It may actually be a home and home since they play their "natural" rival (either the Braves or Phillies) six times when they play the NL East, meaning they play the other four teams 4/4/3/3 so there are two more home and homes. However, if one of the 4s is always either the Braves or Phillies then the other 4 would either be the Mets or Nationals next time.

It's the 3rd season in a row I think that there is no September weekend series in Baltimore. Boo. Nice time of year to visit there. Not too hot and the kids are back in school.
