Same here, I really disliked him when he came on the scene. Wish he could've hit the first putt for the win for theatrics, but happy he got the win. Can't believe the day came when I would be happy Sergio won a major but here we are. Phenomenally entertaining final round, and I'm glad he birdied the playoff so he doesn't have to deal with any "Rose choked" bullshit.
100%. Unfortunately, he choked on his tee shot on the final hole. It looked familiar.Rose seems to be a classy guy.
Sorry, ladies and gents, Sergio signed a scorecard where he wrote 4 instead of 3."Ummm, Sergio, Mabel from Matapan called and, well ..."
Westy ain't winning a major.Rose has always been awesome. Real good dude.
Westy's turn next.
Not if Charl has anything to say about itWesty ain't winning a major.
Augusta is his only chance, but I don't think he does it.Rose has always been awesome. Real good dude.
Westy's turn next.
Yeah. That was bullshit.I have trouble letting go of his bullshit comment about Tiger in 2013, what with my kid being black and all. I thought I might feel happy for him if he won, but in fact, I do not. He is still an epic db.
Yeah, I think Westy's time has come and gone too but I'd love to see him get one. He's probably the only active player without a major that I'd really like to see get one. Maybe Fowler, but Fowler still has many years and attempts ahead of him.Augusta is his only chance, but I don't think he does it.
Sergio continues the 1st time major winner streak too. Up to 6 in a row.
He also just said "we have to represent our race." If it weren't for the fried chicken comment, I might give him a second language benefit of the doubt.
I'd love to see Stricker or Kuchar get one, to be honest.Yeah, I think Westy's time has come and gone too but I'd love to see him get one. Well, he was talking about him and Rose. He may have meant race for the order of merit for all I know, but the fried chicken "joke" was unambiguous, so fuck him.Decent chance he means "country," no?
So hard to know when a comment like that is what he intended or a product of him speaking in his second language.
In the sentence before that he said we are all human, that is clearly what he was referencing. He also just said "we have to represent our race." If it weren't for the fried chicken comment, I might give him a second language benefit of the doubt.
This is where I am. Makes me feel like a sour old man, but I can't help it.I have trouble letting go of his bullshit comment about Tiger in 2013, what with my kid being black and all. I thought I might feel happy for him if he won, but in fact, I do not. He is still an epic db.
I thought you hated Westwood??Yeah, I think Westy's time has come and gone too but I'd love to see him get one. He's probably the only active player without a major that I'd really like to see get one. Maybe Fowler, but Fowler still has many years and attempts ahead of him.
I like him now. You showed me the light.I thought you hated Westwood??
For what it's worth it definitely felt like they showed more golf. Especially after the first hour. This site tracked how many shots CBS showed during the broadcast. Pretty cool.

2014, Spieth and Watson (final pairing) were battling it out on the front 9, Spieth had a 2 stroke lead on the front 9 and then Watson got hot and Spieth got cold and it was a blow out.I wish I was able to follow this thread yesterday but I was watching on my phone driving home from visiting the kids. 5 hours in the car during broadcast was seamless streaming thanks to the mobile app and unlimited data.
I'm legit shocked that Sergio was able to get himself right after those swings on 10-13. It looked like classic Sergio and I'm not sure he recovers from that to win a different major had he continued the gag. Unreal golf down the stretch for both. I'm sure someone is going to point out it happened recently, but I don't remember a Masters finish where the 2 golfers fighting it out were in the last group together. Obviously we saw it last year in the British, but I don't recall having that play out at Augusta. Really good Sunday to watch golf.
Mickelson and Westwood in 2010 comes to mind too, but that never got closer than 2 strokes after the 12th hole.2014, Spieth and Watson (final pairing) were battling it out on the front 9, Spieth had a 2 stroke lead on the front 9 and then Watson got hot and Spieth got cold and it was a blow out.
That's the most recent one I can remember where the final group was battling it out.
Plus it was Westwood.Mickelson and Westwood in 2010 comes to mind too, but that never got closer than 2 strokes after the 12th hole.
Does Stricker have any exemptions left? I don't think he even plays in another one. Would love to see Kuchar though.I'd love to see Stricker or Kuchar get one, to be honest.
No idea how much money he's making on Wall Street, but apparently he's taken a leave to practice for the Master's, and then to continue to work on his game and hope he gets selected for the Walker Cup team (which should be a guarantee after this weekend). He grew up playing junior golf, and is friendly with both, Spieth and Justin Thomas, and has said that the reason he won't turn pro is because he knows that he can't compete with those guys on a week-in, week-out basis.Just catching up. You have to love the true amateur winning low am today. The kid must be making huge money on Wall Street
"I'll have to think about a lot of things after this week, but I have absolutely no plans to turn pro... I'll continue doing what I'm doing"
Stricker is playing the senior tour this year. He'll play a bunch of golf due to a mixed schedule between the two tours. But he's not qualified for the 2018 Masters at this point. Will need a win or a top finish in a major or one of the other ways in. It's unlikely he rises to top 50, so it will be hard to get back.Does Stricker have any exemptions left? Yeah, with some digging it looks like he's qualified for The Open this year, so he'd need a good finish there to get back to Augusta. US Open he'd have to go through qualifying - he petitioned for a special exemption (not sure on what grounds) and was denied. PGA he'd have to finish top 70 on money list or win either a PGA co-sponsored tournament or the Senior PGA to qualify next year (if I'm reading it all correctly).Stricker is playing the senior tour this year.
