What, like an hour or two?I understand that the trade paperwork got in very late. Have you heard that story by chance?

? don't think the Astros ever won the WS beforeIf Houston wins the World Series, it will be only the second franchise to do so in two leagues, joining the American Association's 1886 St. Louis Browns (currently the Cardinals), who won 4-2 over the Chicago White Stockings (modern Cubs).
Not just you.Is it just me, or is Fox deliberately avoiding the word "pennant"?
Yeah. He is so good. I am so glad he played well.I adore Jose Altuve.
Shiiiiit. Yep. Good call. I got hyped in research, you know me. Somehow forgot Chicago swept their asses in 2005. Point stands though: With a pennant win tonight this puts them in select company with few others to do so in multiple leagues.? don't think the Astros ever won the WS before
How can you not? Like his style off the field, and probably the second best position player in the game today after Trout. Plus, I love the little guy aspect. Finding someone beyond Pedey who succeeds at my height always rings close to home.I adore Jose Altuve.
nevermindTrying to upload the sad Yankee fans crying outside the funeral parlor...
That's the one! Mahalo!!!!!!! Always appropriate on MFY Elimination Day!!
Court case thrown out for lack of prosecutionary action, motherfuckers.Trying to upload the sad Yankee fans crying outside the funeral parlor pic...
It's like Vince McMahon and the word "belt."Is it just me, or is Fox deliberately avoiding the word "pennant"?
But everyone was saying they were playing with house money and had nothing to lose!Trying to upload the sad Yankee fans crying outside the funeral parlor pic...
Congrats, man! My first born ushered in the Booby V era, so there you go!
Thank you both. This is a wonderful combination of sweet and insulting.
Happy YED, y'all. The nice thing is that I don't care who wins the WS, just that it be well-played, which I expect it will be.
He's a bench coach. He'll be hungry.I think I'm rooting for LA. I want Cora to be hungry
Well, when Springer caught Bird's fly for the final out, Buck said "The Houston Astros win the pennant" ... so maybe they didn't feel the need to repeat itIs it just me, or is Fox deliberately avoiding the word "pennant"?
You're not going to believe it, even closer.....What, like an hour or two?
Hey, many good days to come. My first (and only) born woke up about 15 minutes ago and asked if the Yankees lost... Only thing he said... I said yes, they're done until next April... He said, I'm happy Dad and then fell asleep. You'll enjoy being a dad.Thank you both.
And sorry for the insulting portion.lol It comes from being tortured and taunted growing up during the 90’s-00’s in a town that was split Sox/Yanks fans. You develop a bit of a chip (to say the least).
Since then I have met a handful of Yankees fans that don’t meet the stereotypes and to them (you guys) I’ll admit there is now a bit of empathy...but still...it’s hard not to be pleased.
Should be exciting (anxiety inducing) for the near future with both these teams expected to be contenders.
I think people who grow up deep in Red Sox territory can't really appreciate quite as well the way the battles were on the front lines. My teacher took a vote in 1978 before the Bucky Dent game and my class was divided 12/12. Which side you sat on the school bus depended on whether you were Red Sox or Yankees. I remember begging my dad to let me stay home the morning after game 7 in 1975 because I knew the Yankees fans would be ruthless as though they were Reds fans. I hate those fucking Yankees.Thank you both.

My daughter was a little over a year old in '07 and I was going to get her out of bed and wake her up to watch the 9th inning of Game 4 against the Rockies so she could always say she saw the Red Sox win a World Series. My wife shot down that idea very quickly. In '13 I did wake up my then 7 year old daughter to watch the last out against the Cardinals. She was a little cranky for the first out, but after Koji struck out Carpenter she had the biggest smile on her face.Hey, many good days to come. My dad fought my mom hard to get me up for extras in game 6, 1986... wow... by game 7, he was like oh just go to bed! even with a 3-run lead... lol.My daughter was a little over a year old in '07 and I was going to get her out of bed and wake her up to watch the 9th inning of Game 4 against the Rockies so she could always say she saw the Red Sox win a World Series. Completely agreeAs pleasurable as it was to watch the Yankees choke away the series after so many jumped on their bandwagon right after Game 5, I'm very happy for the Astros and their fans. How fantastic would it be for them to win their first WS, and just 2 months after Harvey. I really hope it happens.?
Awesome. I had my 6 year old son in my lap in 2004 when Eyechart squeezed the last out. He has since watched two more endings. My daughter was a little over a year old in '07 and I was going to get her out of bed and wake her up to watch the 9th inning of Game 4 against the Rockies so she could always say she saw the Red Sox win a World Series. At least 24, here are the last 24 pitches McCullers threw:Rosenthal tweeted that McCullers threw 28 straight curveballs to end the game
Yankee elimination days and moments like the 04 ALCS are like wet dreams for those of us living in ConnecticutI gthink people who grow up deep in Red Sox territory can't really appreciate quite as well the way the battles were on the front lines.
I think the reason for this is that they never expected to be here and they are super excited for the future. At least that is impacting how I am feeling about the loss. The reaction to the loss seems fairly muted - even the NYC tabloids are going easy on the Yankees today. I wonder if the Boston sports media and fans would be as forgiving if the Sox had been in this same situation - resurgent offense, up 3-2 and needing to win just one of two games to go to the Series - and dropped both games.
Being a life long Massachusetts resident, growing up in the 1970's I really had no clue about the Red Sox/MFY rivalry as in the early 1970's, the MFY's stunk on ice. I remember that 4 game series in 1975 at Shea when the Red Sox took 3 of 4 and buried the MFY's that year how happy my Dad was, I really had no clue.I think people who grow up deep in Red Sox territory can't really appreciate quite as well the way the battles were on the front lines. The answer for the Boston media is obvious: no.The reaction to the loss seems fairly muted - even the NYC tabloids are going easy on the Yankees today. This is my feeling, too. The best teams are in the World Series. I'll be rooting for Houston to beat the Dodgers, and their $241M payroll. For 2017 at least the two best teams wire to wire earned a place in the WS. That's a nice salve that a certain subsection of the fan base and media contingent are going to blow past and refuse to accept.
Boston is in a different place than the Yankees though. Over the past two years Boston has gone out an acquired two ace quality pitchers. Stuff like that leads to different expectations. The Yankees biggest offseason acquisition was the corpse of Matt Holliday. When you make moves like the Red Sox did the past offseason it is a different mindset. The answer for the Boston media is obvious: no.
And I don't believe we'd be very charitable here as a group if the Houston-Boston series played out the same way and we were sunk, as the Yankees were, by an inability to hit in Houston.

Didn't they also pay a FA closer the biggest contract for a reliever ever?Boston is in a different place than the Yankees though.
