Our boy noticed that the fumbling data people were using to say the Pats gained an advantage used data from different sets of balls—ST balls were included and that’s a different set.

So the numbers were fucked and he recalculated them correctly and the “advantage” basically disappears.

https://insidethepylon.com/football-science/football-statistics/2015/11/26/fumbling-data-truth-patriots-fumble-rate/

It got picked up on Twitter by an NYT guy who used it to HAMMER the outlets like 538 or whatever who had run with the initial flawed “study.”

It was one of our finest hours.
Awesome, thanks. If there's a thread for that, link it, and I'll check it out after the game.

If the Nick Foles led Eagles get to the Super Bowl, and the Pats somehow get there and beat them easily, the Nation's Tears would create a new ocean.

Um, I think there is... but we might have consolidated it into the #DFG thread for posterity’s sake, and I think it hit like 700,000 pages...

Anyone here particularly skilled in search? Is @phrenile stull around?

It was pretty glorious—i’d love to get you the tweets from NYT guy and others about it (He was particularly fierce about how people use stats in general and used it to grind his ax about stats more even than football.)

Moving the Line
New Orleans playing outdoors in Philly could be problematic, that ain't a passing attack likely to travel well outdoors.
I got to thinking that when I was typing the quoted post, but I think they'd focus primarily on short routes to Kamara in 21 to keep it simple. Also, think their defense would shut down Philly's offense, and think they'd squeak it out defensively, rather than with a focus on the aerial attack of Brees/Thomas/Ginn/Snead/Hill/etc.

The Canadian Curlers will give the Swedes a run for hotness this year
They broke the mold with Cheryl Bernard. She was the fucking best. Looked like the type that would take you ballroom dancing one night then use you up, kick your ass, and flick her lit cigarette in your face the next. She was the fucking best.

Matt Ryan has regressed so far this year. With those receivers and RBs, that’s unforgivable

Drew Brees is 72-47 with a 102.6 QB rating indoors in his career.
He's 65-56 with a 90.9 outdoors.
