As far as I’m concerned, this is an all-hands on-deck situation. We can’t afford to just hand the Jags a one dimensional offense. If I’m Josh, I’d like to get a grip on exactly what Brady’s limitations are, and just how ham handed his play action might be. Fortunately, I think the offense has a strong grasp on the whole offense which should help keeps the paws of the Jax D-line at Bay. This is where, hopefully, the depth at running back will come in handy.
Ever hear of Wally Pipp? Because Rook06 is ready.

I don't know how you can all be so glib about this.

I'm going around talking up the injury to all of my co-workers (I'm in Oregon, so only one other Pats fan in the whole building), so it will make his victory on Sunday all the more remarkable and heroic.

Seems to me (if reports of gushing blood are true) that a major factor would be the torque on the throwing hand after “zinging” a couple of dozen balls ...that conceivably could result in the cut reopening and thus more blood

Which MLB pitcher was it that could not pitch that one time with a previous cut because after zinging a few their injury began bleeding prfusely again?

Cuts on the hand tend to bleed profusely - if you can sew them up, which is apparently the case with Brady’s laceration, they should be ok.

You’re thinking of the Indians’ Josh Bauer from a few years ago when he sliced the tip off his finger with a drone - different type of injury, you can’t really definitively close a fingertip injury like that so it’s prone to reopening/continuing to bleed

That's interesting, of all the random times I've cut myself, the only times besides my eye I needed stitches were in my hand from a broken bottle. Cut didn't even seem that deep, but the bleeding wouldn't stop after an hour of pressure and even trying to hold a lighter to it, and the blood really wasn't a good lubricant, so I had to go to urgent care.

Pats instagram lists Bledsoe as honorary captain. So he will be in house. And ya’ll we were worried BB wasnt lining up a 3rd string QB

Yeah, the hands and the face are very vascular, so cuts there tend to bleed a lot (think cutting yourself shaving) - the upside of that is because the blood supply is so good, cuts in those areas rarely get infected and tend to heal quickly

You're so late with this tidbit in these threads that we already are long past mocking people who mentioned it after the first round of mentions

As I and another brethren speculated, Tom's doing shotgun snaps only. Snap from center is too jarring. Now we worry when he can start taking snaps from under center.

Here
That Curran “article” is a mess. It’s probably the worst I’ve seen from him. The first paragraph is about how Brady’s thumb is “messed up” and not what the team needs, then the very next paragraph says no first-hand sources have spoken with him and he doesn’t have good information. The rest of the article is, by his own admission, “chatter,” which basically relegates it to Seth Wickersham territory. He should not have written this, it’s very poor journalism, even for a beat writer.

Are you guys serious?

Brady is trolling the media? Yeah, that'll sure teach them! Give them readers and clicks.

I can't believe some of the more intelligent people here believe Brady is going out of his way to troll the media over a made up injury.

What the fuck?

Dudes hurt. How serious? No idea. But I'm pretty confident he's not trying to pull of a sick troll job. Jesus.
I don't think your interpreting the comments correctly. I think a group of us are suggesting that he is hurt, and that he is also playing up the uncertainty and such (and wearing the gloves) to tweak the media.

I'm pretty sure no one is suggesting the entire thing is fake and he's 100% healthy. But you never know---perhaps someone is.

We do?

Brady took 11 snaps/game on average under center this year.

His passer rating in shotgun was 104.3.

Beyond this, my guess is that if he had to take snaps under center he could with some discomfort (meaning if this was game day), but with about 40 more hours to go, no need to push him. The pain can certainly improve in that time.

Your typical city involved in a typical Super Bowl daydream.

(can you imagine how long the lead-up thread will be if we win on sunday?)
If he looks okay throwing the ball Sunday, this is going to be a non-factor for two weeks as he heals further.

Now if he doesn't, and the Pats D shuts down the Jags for a win...

Great stats, thanks. That's cool stuff.

Is it possible to get stats/data when Pats go hurry up? Way off topic I know - but I'd be really curious and appreciative of the info.

Bingo. I'm sure he is hurt, question is how much. But there is definitely some media kabuki they are playing up in terms of gamesmanship with their opponents on Sunday, and gamesmanship with their opponents (media) the rest of the week.

Any reason you're only looking at passing attempts instead of total plays?

Brady took 1116 snaps this season. This site puts half of those under center, so about 35 per game. I don't know how reliable those stats are, but obviously if we include running plays, Brady is taking more than 11 snaps per game under center. If he can't do it, it would be a pretty significant limitation on the game planning.

His placebo effect is probably off the charts
If you were facing the game of your life, it’s about to begin and your ready to hit the field—game on—even with all your knowledge and education...

Tom Brady shows up, shouts, “Yo, snowmanny! I got you!” you turn and he hands you a bottle...

Time stops. All eyes on you. You drink it?
