Red Sox announce 5 more draft signings. C Kole Cottam (4th rd), RHP Thaddeus Ward (5th round), 3B Nicholas Northcut (11th), OF Dylan Hardy (13th), & SS Korby Batesole (26th). Northcut goes to the GCL, the rest to @lowellspinners, who open tonight.
Just checked the transactions... They now have Padron-Artiles signed as of today. It should be noted that the Red Sox transactions do not list Yusniel Padron-Artiles. They do list the other 24 draftees they have signed.
Seriously? this years draft and the Ball draft are not even remotely similar..Seth Beer has 4 HR in 9 games. Hope that pick doesn’t haunt us.
There was much speculation that the Red Sox could fast track him and that he might be able to help the MLB club by September.Speaking of fast starts, when is Boston going to pitch Durbin Feltman? I thought they were going to fast track him.
You complete meThere was much speculation that the Red Sox could fast track him and that he might be able to help the MLB club by September.
None of that speculation, as far as I know, came from the Red Sox camp.
Of the Red Sox signed pitching draft picks, only Brian Brown and Andrew "Scritti" Politi have debuted. Which means both Feltman and Thad Ward (3rd and 5th picks) as well as Eddie Jimenez (18th), Yusniel Padron-Artiles (22nd), Logan Browning (24th), and Kris Jackson (28th) have not debuted. Seems like an organizational approach.
As for Casas vs. Beers... color me surprised that a college player can hit some home runs in short-season A Ball. I'm pretty sure the Red Sox are looking longer term than right now with the pick. (It still might fail. The Draft is nothing if not a crapshoot.)
Not comparing him to the Ball draft. But up thread I think one of the experts (Law?) was questioning his power hit tool. Obviously seeing pitching at that level is probably less than ACC Friday night guys, but thought it was interesting he was off to a fast start. And, if he didn’t have the issues with defensive position, I doubt he drops that far. The hit tool isn’t going to hold him back IMO.Seriously? this years draft and the Ball draft are not even remotely similar..
If I remember correctly Seth Beer had defensive concerns and questions on if he could do well with a wood bat....
Also.. Its been 9 games, the definition of SSS
I'm kind of been following Kyler Murray through the news, but I wonder if he will turn in his signing bonus to the A's and declare for the NFL draftKyler Murray, Oklahoma starting QB, just went #9 to Oakland.
