Why are we following the Philadelphia example of championship celebrations? When did eating actual poo become a custom at these things?

Can we please keep the “Philly Philly” in Philly?

Watched parade from my office window. Great stuff. Was it just me though, or did they move faster than in past parades? Seemed like they flew by.
Yeah I work in downtown and for the Pats last parade hit Gov't center around 1 and the duck boats came by in 45-hr later.
I happened to see confetti going by my windows around `12:15 and decided to head out. Good thing because the boats cleared gov't center by 12:40. They were going pretty fast for a parade.

Those are great shots @Hendu for Kutch!! I love the ones with the construction guys in the background!!
Those guys were hamming it up up there. The players were throwing beers up two and three stories to them.

This one kills me. Nice attempt to connect with 10D.
10D was on the other side of the boat, otherwise I'm sure she would have snagged him!

Anyone else notice Larry Luchino in a duck boat today?
He was definitely there, had a name card and everything.

I can't see any of Hendu for Kutch's photos. Are they hosted in SoSH or elsewhere?

My gallery is here, but here's a few samples.

Great day in Boston today. My 9 yr old and I headed up from CT. I got a few decent pictures today at the parade and some of the players leaving Fenway. A lot of missed shots with phones in front and being jostled while using a zoom with him on my shoulders, but we don't really need photographic evidence to remember this day.

His favorite players are Pedroia and Kimbrel. Although Kimbrel was on the opposite side of the boat from us as it passed, his shouting must have worked, as sure enough, Kimbrel moved to the rear of the boat and waved in his direction. :)

In this last photo, JBJ made some high schooler's day. The kid was shouting within earshot for Jackie for a while before he got in his car and pulled out across Jersey. He saw the kid holding the jersey and motioned to the cop to bring it over and he signed it. The kid was near tears ... and then immediately swooped upon by local TV.

I'm willing to give a pass to anyone who threw beers this year, because it was very much encouraged by (some of) the players. But now that players almost got hurt and it's become a story I hope they crack down, starting in February for the Pats' parade.

Same here. Can't see in Chrome, Firefox, or on my phone
I think you must need to be signed into a Google account. I had hoped copying and pasting them would get around this, but apparently not.

I'll try and get them up in a different way when I have a chance. If anyone who can see them and has a minute wants to simply save them and re-upload them, please feel free.

It's kind of awesome that our stock answer is "we'll fix it for the next parade".

Thanks. At home on Firefox I am signed in to my Google account and I think on Chrome, too.

I haven't been to a Boston championship parade since the '04 Sox - when did throwing beer cans become a thing?

Yeah, at least one of the boats I observed yesterday had a significant stash of full beer cans at the ready - there was lobbing of both cans of beer and nips back and forth between fans and boats. There is blame on both sides.

Great pics there, @j_sunne!!

And Kelly (@sittingstill) - outstanding as usual. It's worth checking out her link, folks...that one of Cora with the Pru in the background is a fabulous composition, as is the last one in your gallery with the confetti!! Personally, I also loved the frustrated look on the photographer's face...those trucks are tough to navigate with...

Here is the story:

Mookie Betts definitely did not want a beer masquerading as a projectile missile tossed at him.

Especially a full can, like the ones tossed repeatedly at the duck boat he was on during the Red Sox victory parade Wednesday.

It started on Boylston Street when a Bud came flying in and crashed off the scalp of Red Sox photographer Billie Weiss. Then as we approached Copley Square, the bombardment increased. There were nips of vodka, peppermint schnapps, Jack Daniels, and more beer.

Betts’s family was on the boats, including his mother.

Related: Photos from the Red Sox victory parade

This has never happened at any other rolling rally. In 2013, on the Charles River, David Ortiz made eye contact with a fan on a nearby boat. The fan offered a beer and Ortiz smiled. The fan tossed it and Big Papi showed that he was more than a designated hitter.

Betts, a two-time Gold Glover, was amazing Wednesday. He was protecting us all with his lightning-quick hands, almost like a goalie under attack.

He also was not happy.

“This definitely has got to stop,” Betts said.

“Do Some Damage” was a catchy slogan, but why would you want to hurt the probable AL MVP?

By the time “Dirty Water” was played later in the parade, Weiss’s wound was swollen. The wife of hitting coach Tim Hyers, who was also on Betts’s boat, was hit in the stomach. I got hit four times.

I was really angry and started swatting away beers and using hand signals to try to get fans to stop. Red Sox security man Mike Gunning made several big saves.

This is not cool, people.

As for the Jim Davis photos, my esteemed colleague misses nothing.

The story is more how Mookie saved us, rather than us saving him.

The Globe's Stan Grossfeld (far right) saw a can of beer thrown from the crowd was heading for Mookie Betts.

Of all the awesome photos in here, I think this one is my favorite. Joe looks like he's about to sheepishly ask the World Series Trophy to marry him.

A lot. Ryan Brasier said on MLB Network today that a bunch are going to the Celtics game tonight and Patriots on Sunday.
Cora and a bunch of the guys came out on the court with the trophy during the first time out of tonight's Celtics game and the crowd went nuts. The Sox exited to a chant of "YANKEES SUCK."

Maybe he hasn’t changed one iota, but Andrew Benintendi looks to me to have come out of his shell some this postseason at the champagne celebrations and the parade. Just an observation. Do not talk about trading him.
