Well, the NFL will need to hire someone other than Bob Mueller this time around.

A quick perusal of the depths of Twitter and you can see how the NFL and its allies in the media will spin this.

She yelled the N-word, she was the aggressor, he just responded, it was self-defense, no charges were filed, the kick at the end didn't connect.

People suck.

...and the one friend robs the girl filming with her phone. That's not a good look, either.

I am told the Chiefs sent Kareem Hunt home from the facility today upon learning of the release of the video and pending further action. Most likely short-term resolution is that Hunt would be placed on the commissioner's exempt list pending a final decision, but we will see.
“Upon learning of the RELEASE of the video.” Fuck them.

No doubt there will be spin from the team, the league, and fans.
There’s no way, though, that the NFL can touch any version of “she was the aggressor”.

On PTI Wilbon is saying that he’s reserving judgment until he learns some context and finds out some things like if drinking was involved...
Now I can appreciate nuance and not wanting to reign down judgment without all the facts, but I have a hard time thinking of anything that justifies what’s seen in the video, and WTF would alcohol involved have to do with anything, since when does illeviate you from laws and personal responsibility?!?

I hope Wilbon gets flayed for that take. What a stupid and irresponsible thing to say.

I'm telling you guys - the NFL doesn't care. They only care if the media cares.

“Upon learning of the RELEASE of the video.” Fuck them.
I won't justify it, but you can imagine they don't want to draw attention to the incident unless they have to... That's probably it more than anything.

Well, more than anything is they don’t want to lose their star RB. Second is they don’t give a shit. See, e.g., drafting Tyreke. Third they don’t want to draw attention to the fact they don’t give a shit.

I’m happy the Chiefs did this, because it will tend to set a floor for NFL action. Honestly, I have rock bottom expectations for this League. They will fuck teams they want to, like the Patriots and the Cowboys. Others they take care of unless the press of public attention becomes too much. Ray Rice/Ravens.

The Chiefs are one of those inner-circle “we have your back teams.” It becomes harder for the NFL to try to finesse this now that the Chiefs have sent him home.

It was only six years ago that their linebacker committed murder-suicide.

They will fuck teams the Maras (Dallas) and Rooneys (New England) want them to screw with. That's all that matters to them.

Not justifying his stance by any stretch, as it shouldn’t be a factor either way, but was he referencing Hunt or the woman with regards to alcohol? Just curious. He should be ashamed either way, but it should be accurate I think.

Jesus, unless I was truly in fear of my life, I can't imagine ever kicking a person when they are down on the ground like that. The fact the woman in question poses no real threat ....what was that fuckwit thinking?

Send the memo to espn.com. They are still starfucking over there with the “shove” headline. (Reminiscent of Tiger got into a minor traffic accident over the holiday weekend; the fender was scratched.)

Yah. Bullshit. They and the chiefs saw the video before. And even if they didn’t the NFL has a Million lawyers at its disposal. If they wanted to get the video pertaining to one of its employees they damn well could have.

Oh and another thing.

You tried oh so hard to get the video and didn’t. But TMZ DID?

Commissioner’s Exempt list sounds so positive. Fuck that.
That was the only option, for reasons explained here.

Neither the NFL, nor the #Chiefs, had seen the video before it was published today. I’m told the league made several attempts to obtain it. The hotel said it was corporate policy to only turn it over to law enforcement. Cleveland PD would not provide it to the league.

Believe it (or don't).
Ray Rice Redux.

You get a pass. Plausible deniability because the NFL tried really really hard to get the video. But didn’t — we rarely get the things we want. But if it unwinds, we have to bring the hammer down, and of course you understand that.

Per Chiefs' statement, Hunt lied to the team about the incident and was therefore released.

“Earlier this year, we were made aware of an incident involving running back Kareem Hunt. At that time, the National Football League and law enforcement initiated investigations into the issue. As part of our internal discussions with Kareem, several members of our management team spoke directly to him. Kareem was not truthful in those discussions. The video released today confirms that fact. We are releasing Kareem immediately.”

Think a Democratic House might call for hearings? Just curious. Free moral outrage points. Also the House Judiciary Committee got involved with Rice fiasco.

Edit: Didn't see he got released. Wow, welcome to Washington Kareem Hunt.

Holy shit. Great on the Chiefs for leading the way with a good example, hoping (if doubtful) more teams will follow this lead.

Also thought this was fake at first too, did the same as amfox1.

If they really didn’t know till now, good on the Chiefs. I mean, odd in that they drafted Hill and are blaming the lie and not the assault, but gradus ad parnassum.

Will the Bengals be under pressure to cut Mixon? He shouldn’t be on a team either.

The toilet.
Maybe I'm cynical, but I don't see this as a "good job" by the Chiefs. They tried to get away with it, got caught and then acted like they were taking the high road. I find it hard to believe they didn't already know exactly what occurred, regardless if they saw the video. (Which if also bs - if you're a victim of domestic abuse or assault, it only counts if there is video...)

That's fairly stunning tbh. I wonder what the time share between him and Peterson will be in the Washington backfield?

I thought the whole reaosn the NFL had hired former law enforcement was to prevent another investigative failure like ate Ray Rice video from occurring again. Am I imagining things?

Spencer Ware might be the highest owned DFS player in DFS history this weekend. Yes I know no one cares about FFB.
