The Pats’ offense was stalled for most of the second half. Yet they ended up with 37 points. Crazy.

All of them. Such a great team.

Brady, Edelman, O Line, Van Noy, Michel, so many huge performances.

Belichick too—other than the 01 team this is his finest work. This defense was awful early on; the offense was clunky. The effort wasn’t even always there. And yet, come February, his is one of the two still playing football. He is better at coaching nfl football than I will ever be at anything. And I’m totally ok with that....

These great games against even teams that the Patriots have played in the last couple of decades really are interesting. The last ten minutes of these games when defenses are tired and when the game has declared itself and it is no longer about outcoaching because each team has seen everything — it’s almost like a different game.

They’ve won a bunch and lost some tough ones. But it’s just off the charts just how many of these there have been in this run. Games that are almost like once or twice in a decade kind of events and the Patriots seem like they just play so many.

around the way
Brady, OL, Van Noy. Again.

Love what Edelman and Gronk brought, coaching, backs, pass rush in the first half in particular. But overall, it was about the OL domination, Brady as GOAT, and Van Noy's consistent Johnny on the spot routine. KVN is everywhere and consistently awesome.

Sony was a freakin' workhorse, he wore that Chiefs D out big time. He didnt have much to work with a lot but turned them into 3-5 yards quite a bit.

Brady is a god damn hero.

We all give it to Tom clearly.

But the O line was fantastic. Run blocking, Pass blocking. Stellar all game.

But really, the D line was maybe the best. The pressure on Mahomes was fantastic. It was so weird to sack / hurry a QB. The front 5-7, whatever the lineup, was amazing. They gave up 31 end of the day but they were fucking amazing, Flores better stay and screw the Dolphins (sorry Dolphins friends on here).

Been saying it for about 2 months now, but Brian Flores has been dialing up plays on third down that has opposing teams dumbfounded. This is not a surprise. The Pats defense has been shutting teams down for a while now. They'll bend, and they'll give up points to a fantastic offense like they did tonight, but at the end of the day, they are consistently putting the offense in positions to win, and in today's NFL, that's about as much as you can ask for from a defense. That's why the top 4 offenses in football are the last remaining teams.

Um offensive line?

Also, about as good as it gets playing that offense in Arrowhead where they have to remain aggressive.

Hill and Kelce had FOUR catches. Like holy shit
You are right - the O line was pretty great tonight and gave Brady enough time to do work. And the defense shut down Hill and Kelce too so credit to them. The gameplan was pretty brilliant save for the throw at the goal-line but that didn't end up mattering so we shall not discuss it. That Trent Brown deal turned out pretty well it seems.

What do we do with Trent Brown? Franchise and trade him? Extend him? That will be particularly fascinating.

And Belichick. He was as close to going on Tilt about officiating calls as I’ve ever seen him, but he had his little tantrum and then he just got the fuck back to work.

Compare to Sean Peyton who couldn’t let it go. (Though admittedly that was a huge play but still there was so much football left there.)
I thought about this when the NO guy had no clue an easy ball was coming to the LA guy on the overtime INT. NO seemed to melt down a little bit in terms of focus and that is on the coach.

the refs are going to fuck you sometimes because they're inept. you have to overcome it.

Hard to single out people.
Brady, Michel, Develin, OL.

Defensively Gilmore, the McCourty brothers, and the DL.

Gronk is #1 for me. I can't imagine th epain, fristration he feels to perform like he has, but he stepped up and put his body on the line. I am pretty sure he is doing things he probably shouldn't just because it wa the playoffs. If that catch was the last time he simply was the better athlete on a catch, I will tank him and tip my cap. What a stud.

Night and day from that travesty Googs trotted out against Denver on 2015.

Still Tom’s most courageous performance physically speaking, as far as I’m concerned. Not sure how he survived that beating.
Anytime any non-Pats fan questions Brady as a player or his toughness, I tell them to watch that game. He got absolutely teed off on all day and led them to a 2 pt conversion attempt to tie the game on the road against a great team. At the end of it all, people will celebrate all these comebacks and game winning drives (as they should) but that game is the essence of him as a player, even in a loss. He was a tough motherfucker that game, and the Broncos players after said as much.

Some day there will be a book detailing everything he played through. 104 temp on road against 15-1 Pitt team (lit them up), separated shoulder, broken foot in SB, knee this year, and God knows what else. He’s as tough as they come and nobody even knows it.

Demarcus Ware, in naming Tom one of the five toughest players he's faced:

“The keys to Tom’s game are recognizing the blitz and getting the ball out of his hands quickly. You rarely see him hold onto the ball,” Ware says. “The way to beat Tom Brady is to hit him. As many times as you can, hit him. And even then, it might not be enough. In theAFC Championship Game a couple of years ago, we sacked Tom four times and we hit him 20 times.

“Twenty times.

“The thing was, every time we hit him, he got back up. We hit Tom more times than any quarterback had been hit in any game that season, and he still had his team a two-point conversion away from tying the game late in the fourth quarter. The dude is relentless.

“Everybody knows what Tom Brady can do with the football. He has great arm strength. He’s accurate. He throws a great deep ball.

“But he can also take a hit.

“Like, 20 of them.”

And a gashed throwing hand against an elite Jaguars defense

The Pats’ offense was stalled for most of the second half. Yet they ended up with 37 points. Crazy.
McDaniels would have been my #1 goat had they not pulled this one out for this reason. First, the dumb fucking goal line interception play on the Pats second drive, where they mysteriously shift from manhandling the Chiefs to trying to get cute. Then the "playing not to lose" offense that McDaniels used for the whole 2nd half until the Chiefs took the lead.

The only thing I can think of to justify McDaniels' ultraconservative 2nd half offense is that maybe Brady really is playing through something and a key focus of the Pats offense is not letting him stand back there and take hits any more than is absolutely necessary.

The other thing I don't get about the Pats offense that is on McDaniels is only 2 touches for Cordarrelle Patterson during regulation. KC is loaded with offensive players who have gamebreaking speed, the Pats have just one, CP, and they basically made no effort at all to get him the ball. He made big plays both times he touched the ball (15 yard "rush" on the little toss pass and then caught a screen and turned a sure 5 yard loss into a 3 yard gain).

No question in this one, for me, that Brady saved McDaniels from having to wear the goat horns.

Brady is the clear game ball winner today. After him, Gronk, Edelman, and the line on offense and Brian Flores along with pretty much the whole defense. Can we trade McDaniels and a pick to Miami to keep Flores?

They did throw twice to CP and he dropped both passes. One was right in his hands, the other required him to stretch out a little but he should have had both.

In two games against Kansas City this year the Patriots had six possessions in last half of the fourth quarter or later. They scored six times, including five go-ahead scores. Ed: and two walk-off scores.

Oh my... what a game. After 6 hours of sleep, other than the GOAT, who's who stood out last night:

- James Develin. Job done. Caught a few passes out of the backfield to keep chains moving, but more importantly cleared the motherfucking way for Michel, Burkhead, White.

- Gronk. One of his best games in recent memory. Made two of the biggest catches of the game, absorbed contact all day off the line, led the early ground attack... played 100% of offensive snaps. Unbelievable.

- Kyle Van Noy. Missed some plays, sure, but made a lot more, especially early. Seemed to set the 'tone' on defense in the first half. Led in tackles and sacks.

- JC Jackson. Locked in in coverage all game. Played through some tough calls

- Brian Flores. Like many here, I laughed at the notion of "Matt Patricia: Head Coach!" and this team clearly has not missed his 'presence'. Methinks we'll have a much tougher time replacing Flores. It's embarrassing that Kingsbury et al get the hype and "genius" label, while Flores gets nary a mention.

Both in overtime, both on sort of typical short passes to WR. Using him more as a big target than as a gamebreaker. Meanwhile, Chiefs stacked the line against the run for most of the second half and the Pats obliged them by repeatedly running into it for short gains, ignoring any effort at misdirection.

This reads exactly like a WEEI hotsportstake. 37 points on the road, over 500 yards of offense, and Brady actually threw the INT, not Josh. The play action was working well, it was a perfectly reasonable call and kudos to the Rams for dropping a linebacker in coverage on that play, ballsy call considering how well the Pats were running it.

The bolded is fair. Still disagree on the play call. That seems like a play where either the defense is fooled and easy touchdown, or the defense isn't fooled and you are leaving the GOAT QB with just one (covered) option.
