Phillips is good but I’m pretty sure part of the magic is in having, at worst, a top 3 defensive player anchoring your line, which I believe he’s had every year since becoming a DC again.

If VanNoy is not on your list.. you’ve made a mistake. Guy was nails
You're right - that screen where he just stood in front of the RB was just great

Flo
Every fricking player on D. Special mention to Van Noy, High, J Mac, Duron, JC, Gilmore, and WIse for the decleat
Plus the whole special teams, especially Allen and Slater

Edelman

Gronk
Everybody.

I am SO SO happy

If you told me 2 months ago that the pats would win a super bowl where tom brady was maybe like the 25th best player in the super bowl...

But of course with the game on the line he did it again.

Phillips has always been and is still good. This would be like trying to minimize BB because Brady is good.

How about some love for the Pats fans? Not sure how it came across on TV but we were loud all game long when the Rams had the ball. That was as close to a home game as you can get at neutral site.

Jason McCourty just noted: he was on the 0-16 Browns last season. Talk about a turnaround.

Seriously, special teams were huge as well. Besides a missed kick, of course. But Allen and Slater were big.

What a great game. I'm sure people will say they were bored by this game. Those people suck.
If you had no dog in the fight I can see why it was boring. But my gut was in knots all game long.

ZERO plays in the red zone by the NE defense. Unbelievable.
It was the don’t bend, don’t break defense.

And seriously- the only points the Rams scores was a 53 yard field goal. 53 fucking yards. That is a hard kick to make and I have a VERY hard time dinging the defense for that. This is as close to a shut out as you can get. Total dominance.

This D flipped a switch like the Bob Sanders Colts back in the day. Except this is much better, and way more fun!

The D was insanely good
Brady came through when he needed to
The O-line was nails again
Edelman did what he does. Seemingly getting open whenever he wants
Gronk as well. Came up with a huge catch when needed.

I have a really good buzz on right now and can't wait to consume all the post game stuff

Just released---Rams and Chiefs have better odds to win Super Bowl next season than Patriots do.

NO RESPECT!!!

It is unthinkable to win a Super Bowl like that on defense in this era of offensive football.
Agree. Particularly given the same team's defensive performance just one year ago.

Pats team defense gets my gameball.

And Felger can STFU about Van Noy - he is a stud.

Moving the Line
I want to talk the OL here, and by extension, Scar. The game wasn't Mt. Vesuvius offensively but they made so many core blocks to make for proper timing, with a huge hug of confidence for the interior. Andrews balled the fuck out to very little love. ACE blocking schemes espcially were textbook in execution. This is a game I'll keep in my back pocket for referencing great play in that regard.

Please come back Scar.

For a “crummy” offensive game, the Pats still racked up 22 first downs and 407 total yards.

He said he’s back next year. Gotta love it

They really ought to rename the trophy.

I was just looking at the Rams’ scoring totals this year.

Wade Phillips just dialed up an all time game plan that should have won his team a Super Bowl. It was one of the greatest ever. It was a championship plan.

Just not good enough. The other guy was better.

Sony had some immense carries. He definitely deserves mention.

I think that Jason McCourty play was the play of the game. That was a TD without his superhuman effort.

There was 1 red zone play in the entire game. One.

Also, how did Van Noy describe the throw by Goff that led to interception? "A buttercup". lol

Unreal America
I kept waiting for the D to break. Even if they had given up a couple scores late I would have thought they did their job. But man, they did not break. They barely bent. What an effort. Everyone on that side of the ball gets a game ball, plus Flores. Just an all time performance.

Dallas
Gilmore, Van Noy, High, Lawrence Guy, DMC, BB, Flores, Edelman, Slater, Ryan’s Allen and maybe Gronk. Stunned this defense came around at the end of the year and dominated.

Congratulations. Tonight you cemented your position as the preeminent franchise in NFL history. I hope Flores can be 1/6 as successful in Miami.

When Chung broke his arm, it was so reminiscent of Harrison breaking his vs the Panthers.
I had the same thought. Chung had the benefit of not having to make a tackle after breaking his arm though.
