I want to make a power ranking of the Port Cellar's least liked players:

1. Marcus Morris
1B. Terry Rozier
3. LeBron James
4. Kyrie Irving
5. Dwyane Wade (DeJesus alone makes him a Top 5 guy)
6. Russell Westbrook
7. Andrew Wiggins
8. Draymond Green
9. James Harden
10. Kevin Durant

I'd make TRoz the solid #1 over MaMo. At least people liked MaMo at the beginning of this season.

Tyler Johnson should be in there somewhere just on looks alone.

Is the death of the mid range game going to eventually be a problem? It leads to more parity but parity is good.

Somewhere
It's hard to imagine what the game would look like if the NBA refused to adopt the 3-point line. With the athleticism of the guys today we might be looking at 50-60 point defensive bloodbaths.

I like that no one shoots at the...uh...bend (?) in the three-point line?
It’s a weird spot on the floor in that it’s between the corner and the slot, so you wouldn’t usually have a guy spaced to there.

NBA players are amazingly good at spacing on the fly on offense, and their movements fall into well-worn grooves.

Klay Thompson returns to the Warriors line-up and leads them to a bounce-back win against the Nuggets 122-105 in Oakland. He had 39 points on 13-22 shooting including 9-11 from deep.

Down south, LouWill leads the Clips over the Thunder 118-110 as Playoff P and Westbrook both foul out in the fourth. Williams, who set the NBA record for most 30 point games off the bench, finishes with 40 points on 13-24 shooting and he had 17 of them in the fourth in what was a close contest near the end.

I hope you guys on the East Coast are ready - the WC playoffs are going to be insane even if the Warriors are almost certain to emerge on top.

We all laughed when Balmer declared the Clips would still be making the playoffs after the Philly trade, but I guess we all fell for one of the classic blunders - the most famous of which are "never get involved in a land war in Asia" and "never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line,” but only slightly less well known is this - “never bet against Jerry West unless you have Bill Russell playing for your team.”

For Griffin, JW got Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Landry Shamet Ivica Zubac Wilson Chandler (expiring) JaMychal Green (expiring) Garrett Temple (expiring) 2020 1st Round Pick (Philly) 2021 1st Round Pick (Miami) Two 2nd Round Picks A TON of Cap Space.

For Chris Paul, JW got receive Patrick Beverley, Sam Dekker, Lou Williams, and a protected 2018 first-round pick, which 1st round pick (turned out to be Omari Spellman from Villanova at 30) was flipped with acquired Jamal Crawford, Diamond Stone for acquired Danilo Gallinari.

Pretty amazing

For as disappointing a season it’s been for the C’s and all the negative media publicity it gets, the Sixers have also been really underwhelming.

They are not at full strength and have been without Embiid for eight consecutive games now however given the moves they have made it has been an underwhelming season in that they are not in the mix for best record in the East. Much like the Celtics, the Sixers have a lot of talent on the roster but can’t seem to consistently get it together on the court and they are essentially on pace for the same record they had last year. Will be interesting to see if the Celtics can pass Philadelphia in the standings before the end of the season.

That clipper/okc game was terribly officiated. How PG and Russ didnt get Td up and thrown out before fouling out is beyond me. There was no way okc was going to win that game.

If the Celtics handle the floundering Lakers tonight, they will have one more loss than Philly, with 15 games to go against Philly's 16, with the teams to play one more time, and the Celtics holding the tiebreaker if they finish with the same record. The Celtics are two back of the Pacers, and get to play them two more times. Boston controls their own path to the third seed, and sweeping the games against the Sixers and Pacers will make it more likely that they get to three in the East.

These two LA games are big for the Celtics. if they can get them both and come home with a four game West Coast trip, they'll be flying high. Then they have three consecutive home games, Kings, Hawks, Nugs, followed by a big road game at the Sixers.

File this under, "numbers don't tell the whole story."

Paul George spent the majority of the game complaining to the officials...….and he went to the line 20x.

When you have Simmons, Butler, Harris, and Reddick, you don’t get to use “no Embiid” as an excuse. That’s a shit ton of talent.

Painful watching the Knicks v. Kings and rooting for the Knicks. These Knicks are a complete mess. Trier doesn't look bad, but the team appears badly coached. Can't believe Kyrie would want to jump to this team.

And yet within 2 at the half...

I also think a lot of guys will think twice about jumping to a team to build it from scratch, even with another star, after seeing what LeBron went (or put himself) through this year.

Sacramento now up by 12. Trier has taken four free throws and bricked them all. We won't be getting any help from the Knicks today.

Somehow he's now at a Ted Williams-esque .406 from 3 on the season.

Early in the season when he was mired in possibly the worst slump of his career, I expected (hoped?) he would regress to his established 40-44% mean, but didn’t actually think he could shoot at the **near-50% rate over three months** that it would require to lift three months’ worth of depressing 33% three-point shooting up to 40% for the season. Welp, oh me of little faith.

On a related note: it always amazes me how mediocrely Klay rates by advanced stats compared to the day-to-day eye test and league-wide respect. Like, by advanced stats, Jimmy Butler perennially kicks his ass (by RPM they rate #1 and 24 among NBA shooting guards, respectively), but is there a single GM in the NBA who would take Butler over Klay?

I'm not worried about IND. I posted this in the playoff seed but their schedule includes these following 8 road games:
@MIL, @PHI, @DEN, @POR, @LAC, @GSW, @OKC, @BOS, and @DET. Their last road win was 2.23 @WAS, since then they are 0-3 with losses @DET, @DAL, and @MIL.

MIL are 10-ish point favorites tonight and I would expect IND to be decided underdogs in each of these games. It wouldn't shock me if they went 0-8 in these games, assuming opponents are playing at full strength.

All I know is that offensive foul at the end that got Russ bounced was marginal at best.

Ryen Russillo noted this with regards to Harden on Friday's Pardon My Take podcast but it must frustrate some of these guys terribly when they start getting whistled for things they have been getting away with for the past ~ five months.

Finally, your Clippers team is fun AF. If it isn't clear from my multiple posts on him, I love all things LouWill, Harrell's energy is infectious, SGA is a fun young guy with good upside and Danilo is having his best offensive season as a pro. I don't love Doc's Xs and Os (I do love Doc though) but he has done an impressive job with this team.

I will also add that he told Van Gundy he asked a "terrible question" after Jeff asked him if he had any long term [health] worries post-game. Klay is a funny guy.

I would think so. Klay still has some of the "we aren't sure if he can do this without one or two of the best players in basketball next to him" stigma.
Yeah, I was going to say it depends. Are we assuming the team is taking Butler or Klay as their first, second, or third option?

Isn't Butler developing a "can't play well with others" stigma? I'd take Klay in a heartbeat.
Yeah, Butler has red flags all over the place. NBA media guys talk about him like teams will have to talk themselves into offering the max if they miss on everyone else

Otto Porter
Wizards: 41 games, 29.0 Minutes, .457/.369/.766, 12.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.6 steals. 10.8 FGA/G
Chicago: 11 games, 34.5 minutes, .497/.475/.875, 18.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.5 steals. 14.1 FGA/G

Never really understood why he didn't get more shots in Washington. I think he was paid entirely too much but if he's capable of a much bigger offensive role, maybe not.

Pacers at Sixers at 3:30 on ABC: either way C's gain ground afterwards; what outcome do we want here?

For a guy with so many skills, I find Embiid’s brand of basketball just disgusting to watch. He basically just elbows his way towards the basket, or settles for clanking threes. His conditioning is still questionable and I feel like any good NBA team can handle him if they continuously attack him on defense.

a Sixer home loss...the answer is always the 76ers losing
Meh, I'd be totally fine playing Indy, and I think the Sixers are a tough matchup for Toronto. Pacers-Bucks-Sixers might be the ideal route to the Finals.

These things matter: I think the Celtics would have lost to the Raptors in 5 or 6 last year. The draw really helped them out.

Of course, then they whistle Embiid for a foul he obviously didn’t commit.

Edit: Then he gets a foul call by falling over his own feet.
