So MLB conceded it wasn't a masking agent, but held to it was a banned (inappropriately) substance?

Unless he had a weight clause in his contract and had weigh-ins, it is hard to think of a non-medical reason he'd be taking diuretics other than as a masking agent. And if it was a medical reason and they were prescribed by a doctor, you'd think that would be enough to outright win a challenge instead of get a reduction in his suspension. So what happened?

More inappropriate than taking unidentified pills given to him from a "close acquaintance" and choosing not to have them checked out or disclosing it with his team or MLB? If he's truly that stupid, and I wouldn't take the word of a guy who's been caught cheating multiple times now, he still deserves the 80-game suspension.

How convenient that the appeals process probably allowed the Twins to know they could squeeze another start out of him last night before the ruling was finalized.
