Very good question. For the past several weeks I've been of the mind that he wanted out of Oakland. I think he was so excited to get out of Pittsburgh that he signed on the dotted line but when he walked into Oakland and saw firsthand what a trainwreck it was, he knew that BEST CASE, he was going to be the star on a dying franchise, so he started working his way out of town with cryo-gate, helmetgate, whatever he can think of. Now he's got a chunk of change in a first class organization with a chance to win a ring.
This is the only narrative that can be plausibly matched with a good outcome for Brown with the Patriots, so I hope this is what happened. I’m still 50/50 between this and AB being so deranged that he can’t emotionally self-regulate at this point in his life, so I’m rooting for the non-tragic outcome...
Gordon wideout left, AB wideout right, JE in the slot, White out of the backfield. Jesus fucking Christ.
The throw will then go to Devlin.

I am firmly on the record as disliking AB. On one hand it's great for the team I root for, but Brown is not a player I easily root for at all. I'm sure I'll be happy with the production on the field, but it's hard to put the last couple weeks out of my head.

See ladies and gents, after 6 rings I almost don't care about how AB works out.

I'm just giddy about the avalanche of sweet, sweet, Patriots content that's about to be turned up to 11.

A few from TheSteelersFans.com...

Blount
Harrison
Brown

No one else sees a pattern here?!?!

Is the entire league this naive?!?!

I've never seriously wished ill or injury on anyone outside of a sarcastic joke, but I SINCERELY hope with all my heart, AB breaks both his legs so bad, even his grandchildren are crippled.

And Belicheat... actually, I don't wish him harm. I just wish he gets exactly what he deserves: found out, called out, punished, legacy ruined, name forever a joke.
I'm beyond mad.

I felt sorry for him earlier because I really thought he had mental issues.

No.

This was the plan all along. We would never trade him to New England. He didn't care where he got traded to because his plan all along was to get released and sign with New England.

This is a dark day for the NFL.
F(*$%^&**!

This is exactly what I feared and exactly where he wanted to go and exactly what they wanted. We should have made him stay in Pitt no matter we're still eating the cost anyways. Horrible

So pissed

I respect this. And we're here to help get you through it.

This still doesn’t feel real. It feels like what a 12 year old does in Madden. “Oh, I need a WR. I’ll just turn off pre-existing injuries and suspensions to get Gordon back and then release Antonio Brown and sign him to the Pats.”

I am genuinely shocked by this. I love it though. Line up AB-Jules-Gordon-Thomas in 4 wide sets all day. Who needs a TE?

This is one of those moves where, it kind of sounds like a terrible idea in advance, having no information about AB & Bellichick's desires. But once it becomes clear that both parties are on board, it's fucking awesome.

It all comes down to the OL now. Specifically...good health and the center position. They have become one of the best running teams in the NFL. One of the best play-action teams. Brady is still slinging it with the best of them. And they just added the best receiver in the NFL who now has something major to prove. Oh, and their defense, which by season's end was one of the best in the NFL...got BETTER.

AND...they're incredibly deep at most every position: DB, LB, DL, WR, RB...the OL, TE, and QB spots aren't super deep but otherwise...they're just loaded everywhere.

Safe to say that when everyone is healthy and up to speed (it will take Brown a few weeks to learn the playbook most likely, which will coincide nicely with Watson's return), that this is the most talented Pats roster ever?

OTOH, the tears of the talking heads are tasting rather glorious.

As a side note, I seriously wonder how much joy Belichick gets out of the reaction to things like this.

I don't know the man but from what I do know of him, he may not be on the platforms. However I'd still like to believe he derives some happiness from just knowing that the salty tears and take quakes are going on in NFL media circles and social media.

This pretty much does it for Gronk's return unless he's going to play for free.

It's been a while since my Twitter feed was primarily talking about one single topic.

AB is everywhere. The Belichick memes are real and spectacular.

I've only been half paying attention to the whole saga but I don't blame anyone for acting crazy and forcing their way out if they realized they had to work for Jon Gruden (and by extension, an organization that decided to give him a 10 year $100m contract). Like, we all know he's a dunce.
