yeah, I was looking for that clip of BB in the pregame chat telling Chad he'd be doubled all game by the Pats, but couldn't find it.Sounds like what he said to another WR back in the day. Maybe the Patriots will sign him in like 8 years after he’s changed his name to Odell Trece.

If only "belichick chad johnson single coverage" worked on the google machines...
For whatever reason, the last time I looked at this I really didn't think it would be in play. I'm not one of the people that believes Belichick will hang it up when Brady decides to, so they can go out together. I think Belichick enjoys football far more than anything else in his life and will coach for as long as he feels he's at the top of his game.
Both records, because you know that he'll be hanging on to the regular season record crowing until Belichick pries it from his cold dead fingers. The total record will be gone by the halfway mark of the '22 season. It might take him until '24 to grab the other one.I really hope Don Shula lives to see BB take this record from him.
I thought it was reported that LaCosse was placed on IR? Was that not correct?Shaq Mason practiced today but was limited. Myles Garrett was limited with a knee.
DNP--Izzo, LaCosse
LP--Edelman, Burkhead, Chung, Gunner, Mason
FP-Dorsett
Cleveland
DNP-Randall
LP-Garrett, Lamm
FP-Beckham, Ekuale, Mayfield, Ward, G. Williams
There was a mistaken tweet to that affect sometime last week, which had since been corrected.I thought it was reported that LaCosse was placed on IR? Was that not correct?
Ok, thanks! There was a mistaken tweet to that affect sometime last week, which had since been corrected.
We appreciate your pity. It happens a lot, we are the extreme northern edge of Raiders territory, to the networks.Poor Eugene ...
Then you'll love this:If there are 2 positions you don't want backups playing vs. the Pats, it is O-line and safety. Yikes.
Yep, saw that prior to posting.
It's interesting that they are nursing both Izzo and LaCosse through this time. It argues that they see a role at least this year for both of them. When Harry is activated you would think 1 of the 4 tight ends would go, but if it isn't Izzo or LaCosse are they going to move on from Tomlinson or Watson?
They tried to cut Tomlinson earlier this week and they did cut Watson a couple weeks ago, so it seems like the hierarchy is pretty established. Izzo's in concussion protocol so he's week-to-week. LaCosse I have no idea, but he's been hurt three different times this year so far. It's interesting that they are nursing both Izzo and LaCosse through this time. Yeah it does seem Tomlinson is most likely to go. And I don't know that I can offer much in terms of analysis, but the guy seems the most likely fullback on the team. Does that count for something? I wouldn't be too shocked, particularly if Tomlinson showed something on that front, for Watson to be the odd man out. They tried to cut Tomlinson earlier this week and they did cut Watson a couple weeks ago, so it seems like the hierarchy is pretty established. FWIW they do have an open roster spot currently after the Bennett trade. I do think you're right that they like LaCosse. He also got a two-year deal, so they may feel that even if LaCosse / Watson is close, they'd rather roll with the guy with more of a future (ditto Izzo / Tomlinson).LaCosse is an odd case. Either they feel LaCosse has the potential to be their most productive TE so they continue to nurse and keep him on the roster or they are just holding his spot for Harry and he’s heading to IR next week.
Not sure if, because their cap space was so tight after Sanu trade before Bennett move, that IRing LaCosse this week to bring another player/salary was even an option.
The rules regarding IR are a bit vague as they have been reported, but my understanding is as follows:[Edit: Responding to nazz] That may be the answer. He plays a position of need and using his roster spot for a player not already on the payroll -- so, other than Harry, Wynn or Develin -- costs a few hundred thousand that they didn't have.
And, also, we learned a lot (well, I did at least) about using IR for players with injuries that are not season ending. If they IR him, and his injury is a minor one, then they have to waive him as soon as he's healthy. I think this rule gets abused with players with two or three week injuries sometimes getting put on the IR, but maybe the Patriots want him next year and are being scrupulous about the rule.
I thought he enjoyed motor boating as well... I think Belichick enjoys football far more than anything else in his life and will coach for as long as he feels he's at the top of his game.

Thank you!Just a quick PSA for any Europeans reading this: the US is still on daylight savings time, so the games start an hour earlier in Europe this week. If you're in the UK the Patriots are on at 8:25 PM and at 9:25 PM in central Europe.
